Lucas Scott McVicar
When you visit Luke’s bench or his memorial, we ask that you post a picture on Facebook to keep his memory alive. If you have a memory or short story to share about him, that is also welcomed.
Lucas was born in Marietta, Ohio on May 6, 2001, a son of Scott and Ellen (Bonnette) McVicar, and a younger brother to Nathan. He was a 2019 graduate of Marietta High School and the Washington County Career Center where he was in the electrical program. During high school Lucas worked for Giant Eagle, and after graduation worked for Promanco before going to work for Ascent Resources as an I & E Tech. He was proud to work for these companies and gave 100% every day.
Lucas enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Flight Simulator, jet skiing, camp fires with his friends, going to concerts, driving his tractor, making deer jerky, and listening to country music. He enjoyed repairing and reselling guns, working with his hands, fixing things and making people laugh. Whether he was fixing a car, chopping wood, shoveling snow, or helping someone he didn’t even know, Luke was always willing to lend a hand. If he didn’t know how to fix something, he researched until he understood. From a young age, he was interested in trains and airplanes and would spend hours reading train magazines and enjoyed going to museums.
Lucas prided in taking care of his trucks. He was patriotic and never hesitated to thank a veteran and law enforcement for their service. He also was a Christian, asking Christ into his heart at a young age. Luke had a deep love for his family. Holidays, birthdays, family dinners, playing games, and talking to friends and family were so important to him.
Lucas was a giver, always making time for someone, always helping, and always with a big smile on his face.
