Life story

Rebekah Jo Hatmaker, age 31, was the daughter of Jaime Hatmaker Utz and James Hatmaker. The loving best friend and little sister of Sarah Hatmaker Rutledge and the doting Aunt to Kailey Grace, Peyton James and Rebekah Faith. She also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and a grandmother.

She was a well loved 6th grade math teacher, friend, and Bridal shop owner.

Rebekah’s passing was unexpected and shocking due to Streptococcal meningitis.

The last thing whispered in her ear in the last minutes of her earthly life was that her sister’s baby girl- that she was pregnant with, would carry on her name. (Rebekah)

Rebekah has been gone exactly 10 years from this earth as of October 9th, 2024, but her presence is severely missed every day.

Rebekah influenced the lives of so many people. She was friendly, hilarious, generous, extremely smart, witty, and most importantly a devoted Christian!

We as her family rejoice in knowing we WILL see her again!!

From Kailey

Beka, I think the last time I saw you was when you helped me get dressed up for your bridal fashion show. All I wanted was a snack and you were sneaking them to me even though I was about to walk a runway in a flower girl dress. You were the cool Aunt, with cute clothes, and all the snacks. When people say we look alike I like knowing that we had so much in common. I know you’d love going to concerts with me, taking me to get our nails done, and probably teaching me how to drive. I wish I knew you longer on earth but I guess we will have forever to make up for it. Some people are really easy to like and really really hard to say good bye to 🥹

From Peyton

Hey Beka, I miss you but I know I’ll see you again soon. You’re missing a pretty big hurricane down here on your 10th year in heaven. One memory that mom likes to remind me of was how I never wanted to be carried and I never wanted to walk either when I was little and you were the only one who found it funny. I’m pretty sure after a long night at City Walk mom was ready to strangle me but you took me to build a super hero and that spider man ended up being the only toy I ever cared about. Love you Aunt Beka. Thank you for always loving me and laughing when mom got mad. I’m sure she loved that!

Never afraid

I remember our last girls trip as we were flying home, we hit some pretty intense turbulence. I grabbed her hand and she laughed. She said don’t be afraid Sarah, we are here together and if anything happens we know where we are going. Then she squeezed both of my hands and prayed for peace and soon the turbulence stopped. I always admired her unwavering faith in times of trouble. She was truly one of a kind.
