Paul James O’Farrell
Dear Next Generation: It is LOVE that is the flashlight that illuminates the path we should tread.
Chief Warrant Officer Four (CW4) Paul J. O’Farrell was born August 17th, 1977 in Phoenix, AZ. He was an accomplished chef, an adept woodworker and artist with a love for family, travel and the New York Yankees.
He left this world in a storm of Irish might on the evening of November 7th, 2023 surrounded by family and friends after a two-year battle with cancer.
CW4 O’Farrell honorably served in the US Army for 15 years, first as an OH-58D (Kiowa Warrior) Pilot assigned to 6th Cavalry Squadron, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), Wheeler Airfield, Hawaii, where he achieved Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and became the Troop Safety Officer. His next assignment led to him serving in the Military Intelligence Battalion Flight Detachment in Fort Stewart, Georgia, as the UAS Operations Officer. He successfully assessed and was selected for assignment to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment in 2017; where he served faithfully in Echo Company, Second Battalion as UAS Technician, UAS Platoon Leader, Operations OIC, Government Flight Representative, Aviation Safety Officer, and UAS Standardization Officer.
CW4 O’Farrell’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor, Army Commendation (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Combat Action Badge, the Army Aviator Badge, The Order of Saint Michael and numerous other awards and decorations.
He imparted his knowledge and expertise throughout the Department of Defense, deploying seven times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve.
Paul lived, loved, and fought with the heart of a lion. He fought his final battle like any other - with unmatched grit and true mettle. He was a warrior; Courageous and determined to exemplify the Nightstalker motto. Let it be known forever more - CW4 Paul O’Farrell NEVER quit.
