Thank you for your service
Elliot served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
“Lee” Elliot Michael Sandler passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024, with family by his side. He was diagnosed in early September 2023, with a glioblastoma tumor, an aggressive, incurable cancer. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather.
Elliot and his identical twin, Robert, were born June 8, 1945, to Helen and Solomon Sandler in Boston, Massachusetts. Robert passed away from childhood leukemia in April 1949.
He grew up in surrounding communities, graduating from Randolph (MA) High School in 1963. Elliot found a passion for drums and participated in school bands. This began a life-long career in music, playing in different bands over a 30+ year career. He was a member of the nationally rated trio, A Taste of J & B and The Surprise Package, a two-man band. Starting with percussion, his music career evolved to becoming the lead vocals.
After high school Elliot attended Burdett College, graduating with a degree in Business. He then entered military service in the Army. His last assignment was with Army Entertainment in the Boston area.
With his degree he went on to developing and operating several businesses. After moving to Maine in 1979, his love of horses spurred him to own horses, starting Northstar Ranch - a tack shop selling horse trailers, equipment, supplies and horses. His last business venture was Northstar Video Productions. As a videographer he captured dance recitals, weddings, various sporting events, ceremonies, depositions, interviews, pageants, etc.
He enjoyed talking with people, telling stories and a good joke. There was always an abundance of laughter when Elliot was around. He dreamed of wintering in Florida and spent his last months in Fort Myers, Florida, near his sister and brother-in-law, James.
Elliot is survived by his wife, Susan; sister, Judy (James) Inman; his four children, Wendy (Mark) Kerchoff; Howie (Kerri); Shana (Ryan) Dulac; Branden (Kathryn); and his four grandchildren, Victoria and Bryden Kerchoff and Craig and Morgan Sandler.
In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made in Elliot’s name to The Jimmy Fund or GlioblastomaFoundation.org
