Life story

The best thing about being Cynthia’s granddaughter was that in her eyes you could do no wrong.

She would go to the ends of the earth to spoil her grandchildren.

My brother and I remember her playing silly games with us even Jurassic Park on PlayStation which we all know she probably didn’t really like.

After an afternoon of entertaining us she would drive me and my brother Kenny to our favorite childhood restaurant...which happened to be McDonald’s... but as she drove shed let us navigated he entire trip- letting us tell her when and where to turn. We drove around the whole city of Waterbury before we got there but she didn’t mind. She did anything to make us happy.

I remember sitting with her at my kitchen table one night, I was paining in my Sesame Street coloring book. she would watch me paint and get up every now and then to refill her tea ,she REALLY loved her tea. fast forward to 2009 when she received a nickname of tea grandma from her great grandchildren, BUT fun fact my grandma actually really grew to love coffee.

Growing up we’d often spend Sundays at grandmas house having water gun fights and always having BACCOS pizza for dinner.

my grandma knew the Baccos phone number by heart, and everyone’s order too!

She always made sure everyone was fed and happy. She also loved cooking for her family. she made the absolute best macaroni and cheese.

Pop tried to re-create it quite a few times but nothing will ever compare to grandmas,

sorry Pop!

As time passed weekly dinners switched from grandmas house to my house, those are some of my most favorite memories ... especially the dinners that included my great grandmother Grammy,Cynthia’s mother. After we’d eat dinner we would put our dogs up on the kitchen table for grandma and Grammy to see up close. They would laugh hysterically as the dogs licked their faces. People would have thought we were crazy for putting our dogs up on the table, but they loved it and to us that was priceless.

We could never have a Wednesday night dinner without having something delicious for dessert.

It’s safe to say I most definitely inherited my sweet tooth from my grandma. she absolutely loved her sweets.

donuts, peeps and chocolate covered cherries to name a few.

Her and my grandfather marcel met at a roller skating rink when they were just teenagers...they then married in 1959.

They loved to travel and sightsee together. They would Drive cross country;visiting Hawaii and Las Vegas just to name a few.

They even did a lot of their travels on motorcycle!

when my grandparents got their dog Heidi, an adorable little bichon that my grandma loves with all her heart, Heidi began to travel with them too.

Leave it to my grandpa to rig a dog cage to the back of his motorcycle! but you know what, Heidi actually really loved it.

If you knew my grandparents you knew that was then and that was their favorite thing to do.

My grandma just always wanted to be on the move, going for an adventure ! Her and my grandfather were members of the miata club. She absolutely loved her car rides, she even went on one this past Thursday, which I know she absolutely loved.

My grandma never missed a dance recital of mine.

as I said before her children and grandchildren were everything to her. Even as her disease progressed she continue to be our biggest supporter.

she attended my brother’s high school graduation and walked up the very last row of seats in the palace theater refusing to switch seats or use a wheelchair.

she truly was our very own little cheerleader.

Now ,let’s talk about my grandpa, marcel... or pop to me!

After 61 years he stayed true to those vows that he had once spoke...

in sickness and in health, till death do us part.

He took the absolute best care of my grandmother. Pop made sure that my grandma could stay home where she was loved and comfortable in her favorite big comfy chair.

she was always safe and warm watching her favorite shows like judge Judy, the price is right, and the big bang theory.

He would always entertain her and take her on those long scenic car rides that she loved so much whenever she would ask

,always stopping to get her a coffee coolata from Dunkin’ Donuts. One of her favorite sweet treats.

He truly did treat her like a queen and would do anything to keep her happy, I really admire him for that. He set a great example of what true love is.

My grandmother possessed so much kindness and love. I’m so lucky to get to witness that first hand in my mother Susan and my uncle Scott. They are two of the most amazing people I know and that’s because they were raised by her.

I’ve heard so many sweet stories about my grandma‘s kindness, especially from my father. she always went out of her way to spoil him; even making sure to fix him special dinner plates so that none of his food would touch each other. But my favorite story is when she stopped to get my dad a Frankie’s hot dog when my mom was in labor with me.

she called my dad up to find out what he wanted on his hotdog ...and let’s just say my mom really didn’t care what he wanted on his hotdog at that moment...but grandma did.

she was just the best.

In the later years of her life,as her disease started to worsen,we learned how to adapt and change with her. Although she lost most of her ability to verbalize she was very expressive with her beautiful blue eyes. she always let us know she appreciated us spending time with her, always thanking us for coming over.

I’ll have her big grin and adorable winks ingrained in my mind forever.

She especially loved her visits from my mom and our dog gizmo.

my mom could never visit grandma without gizmo, he was a staple in her life. He made her really happy.

she would spend time petting him and telling him just how cute he was.

she really looked forward to those visits;they were the best of friends.

I think gizmo is going to miss her the most.

My grandma taught me to be appreciative of life.

she taught me to cherish every moment not only with her, but with my own mom.

because of my grandma I do not take any moment or relationship for granted.

I feel so grateful to have been by my grandma side when she passed away.

we were all sitting with her like usual talking and the next minute we glanced over and she was gone like a whisper;so peaceful and quiet.

I will forever be thankful to have been there in that moment.

I know that my grandma will always be with me and I will carry on her legacy of being kind and spoiling my loved ones.

I appreciate all of you coming to pay your respects to my grandmother,

and as only grandma could say “thanks for coming.”
