Life story

IRGINIA I. SHEELY, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at her home in Payne, Ohio. Born Jan. 10, 1922, in Payne, she was a homemaker and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Payne, and the United Methodist Women. She was also a a 4-H leader for 45 years, member of the Paulding County Writers Club, Tutor for the Ohio Reads program and delivered Meals on Wheels. Surviving are her husband, John Eugene Sheely; sons, Laurence (Alby) Sheely of Winterhaven, Fla., David (Jan) Sheely of Hudson, Mich., Robert (Marla) Sheely of Hamilton, Ohio, Kevin (Tina) Sheely of Harlan; two daughters, Geneva (Jim Greenwood) Thiese of Hamilton, Ohio, Melinda (Steve) Lee of Mandeville, La.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

J. Eugene Sheely, 87, of Payne, Ohio passed away Nov. 17, 2010 at Dallas Lamb Foundation Home.

Gene was born on March 30, 1923, in Grover Hill, OH, the son of the late John and Minnie (Leiter) Sheely. On Oct. 11, 1942 he married Virginia Boyd, who died on Oct. 28, 2003. He was self-employed as an appliance repairman, photographer, and farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an active, lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a 60-year member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge.

He will be sadly missed by his sons: David (Jan) of Hudson, MI, Dr. Robert (Marla) of Middletown, OH and Kevin (Tina) of Spencerville, IN; daughters: Geneva (James) Greenwood of Hamilton, OH, Melinda (Steven) Lee of Mandeville, LA; daughter-in law: Albalina Sheely of Winter Haven, FL; fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters: Carmelita (James) Morrison, Constance (Robert)
