Rachel Marie Knott
Rachel Marie Knott
Age 39, of Oscoda, MI, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. She was born on July 18, 1982, in Livonia, Michigan to Rex and Kathleen Bradbury (Hendry).
Above all else, Rachel was a devoted and loving mother. Her children—Janie Autry, Megan Knott, Michael Knott, and Keith Knott—were her world, her greatest joy, and the true purpose of her life. She poured her heart into raising them, always putting their needs before her own, and she took pride in every milestone, big or small.
Rachel graduated from Plymouth Salem High School in 2000 and had called Oscoda home for the past 10 years. She worked for Northland Area Federal Credit Union since 2017, where she was the assistant branch manager. Her coworkers and community admired her dedication and her warm, welcoming spirit.
Rachel loved the simple joys of life—spending time at the beach, county fairs, cooking, and gardening. She had an incredible eye for interior design, a proud sense of fashion and style, and a love for music that made her the life of any gathering. She had the remarkable ability to remember every lyric of a song after hearing it just once or twice.
She was also a true and loyal friend. Rachel had a gift for making people feel seen, loved, and supported. She was the kind of friend who became family. Among those who were closest to her were her best friends, Samm Schmidt and Anna Marie May, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Rachel shared a deep and meaningful bond with her fiancé, Don Alt, a forest firefighter. Even while distance separated them, their love only grew stronger, and she cherished the time they had together. Both born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia, their story felt touched by fate.
Rachel is survived by her children, Janie, Megan, Michael, and Keith of Oscoda, MI; her parents, Rex and Kathy Bradbury of Oscoda, MI; her sister, Sara Bradbury of Alpena, MI; her fiancé, Don Alt of Mississippi; and her nieces, Leilani, Kalia, and Mikala Dorgelo.
Rachel’s presence was a gift to all who knew her. She will be remembered most as a devoted mother, a beautiful soul, and a best friend whose love, laughter, and strength will live on through her children, family, and friends.
