Bill fought his last battle with all the courage he had, but he
passed away on May 6 to be with the Lord.
Bill knew the family was there with him, and he was at peace.
He was 75. He was always the protector and provider. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. His family called him
"McGuyver." His instinct, self taught knowledge, and persistence got him through many a trial.
He volunteered for the Air Force as soon as he graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1965, and he spent the next four years fighting for his country. Two of those years were spent in Viet Nam, Laos, and Thailand. In August of 1969, his tour of duty ended and he returned home to Ft Lauderdale.
There, he went to work part time and attended flight school to earn a private pilots license, which he incorporated into scouting the Everglades for hunting seasons.
In May of 1970, he and Nancy were married and she was formally introduced to the Everglades. Lucky for him, I found it to be about as adventurous as he did.
A few years later, Bill and Nancy's sons were born. As the boys grew old enough (about six years old), their dad started taking them on adventures. They loved it!
Bill worked for the City of Ft. Lauderdale for 42 years as mechanic and later as Diesel Tech until his retirement. He loved his family, hunting, frogging, and art/sculpting.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his two sons, Randal and John, and his three grandchildren: Brandon, Lucy, and Sebastian Cook. He is predeceased by his father, Fredrick Cook, his mother, Cornelia Fettweis, and his sister, Colleen Crickenberger
He donated his body to Science Research in the hopes that through that means it will help others. We are donating to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research
