“Live, Love, and Give Back”
Marketa McCabe was born on April 17, 2001. As the oldest child and only daughter of Jana and Jeff McCabe, she was a caring older sister and mentor to her brother, Jeffrey. Marketa had a rare wisdom beyond her years, coupled with a deep sense of kindness and understanding that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She brought light into every room and was deeply loved.
Marketa was a natural athlete, playing both softball and field hockey, and she was a dedicated student, Girl Scout, and member of her community. Additionally, she was incredibly empathetic and dedicated to the causes of social justice and environmental sustainability. Engineering was Marketa's major at Rowan University, and she had hopes of becoming an environmental engineer and helping find innovative solutions to limit climate destruction.
Her father, Jeff, helped raise her to be an outstanding young woman. He led with a kind spirit and a gentle demeanor toward anyone he met, and he was known for his creative artistic talent and cartoons he would draw for loved ones, especially his family.
Tragically, Marketa passed away suddenly during her second year of college due to a cardiac arrest caused by heart arrhythmia. Just three years later, her father, Jeff, also passed away from a heart attack. Their memories live on through the passion and empathy of Jana McCabe and Jeffrey McCabe. Those who knew Marketa and Jeff were forever changed for the better.
Marketa's dream continues through the Marketa's Journey Foundation, which carries forward her passion for environmental education and protection. Her love, kindness, and dedication will always be remembered and honored.
