Lived 65 years
Ilion, New York
Life story

Jan Forbes Burling was a lifelong resident of Ilion, New York. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, and boisterous laugh. She’d light up the room wherever she went and was never afraid to offer her opinion.

On August 26, 1972, Jan married her high school sweetheart, James Burling, Jr. They raised two daughters and were married for 47 years, until her death. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and music. Jan often hosted family and friends for holidays and get togethers. She was ecstatic when she became a grandmother and treasured the time she was able to spend with her young grandsons.

She was an amazing cook and always had a snack, glass of wine or a beer for anyone who popped in. She enjoyed singing along with her husband Jamie while he played guitar at home and when his band played out, she was always in the audience.

Jan was very active in the community. As Exalted Ruler of the local Elks Club, Jan started the Community Fund to help local families and individuals suffering catastrophic hardships.

She was accomplished in her career as Vice President of Systems East, but more importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
