Isaac Donulus Schantz
ISAAC D. SCHANTZ, age 73 years, of Hudson, passed way Monday, December 31, 2012, at his home, in the loving care of his family. He was born February 25, 1939, in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Isaac J. and Harriet B. (Burke) Schantz and married Judith L. Nethercott on August 22, 1959, at Petoskey, Michigan. She survives. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Petoskey and served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired Captain from the Michigan Department of Corrections after 28 years, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson and of the Knights of Columbus #3221 at Hudson, and Deputy Grand Knight of Council #8152 in Crossville, TN. Surviving besides his wife Judith are his sons, Donulus Joseph (Yun Hee) Schantz of Watsontown, PA, Thomas Michael (KimBerly) Schantz of Wyandotte, MI, Ronald Christopher (Yolanda) Schantz of Bastrop, TX, and Richard Anthony (Kathleen) Schantz of Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, his daughters, Lucy Marie Rogers of Jerome, MI., Monica Ann (David Lee) Staley of Maryville, TN, Juanita Dolores Schantz of Browns Bay Auckland, New Zealand, Carolyn Marie (Randy Lee) Cameron of Lawton OK., Cynthia Ann Schantz of Bastrop, TX., Mary Elizabeth Walker of Clarksville, TN., and Rebecca Lynn (Tory) Neely of Hudson MI., 53 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, his brothers, Francis Schantz of Southgate, MI., Bernard Schantz of Rochester Hills, MI., and Peter Schantz of Hemlock, MI., and his sisters, Anna Mae Ryan of Grand Rapids, MI.,, Bertha Dellapenta of Medford, OR., Theresa Donnelly of Traverse City, MI. and Rose Ann O'Rourke-Borors of Gainsville, VA. Preceeded in death by his daughter Mary Ann, grandson Isaac Schantz, and great-grandson Isiah Miley, his parents, his brothers John, Joseph, Louis, Fred, Alfred and Thomas, and his sister Sr. Lucretia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson with Rev. Father Joseph Krupp and Deacon Anthony Nethercott officiating. Interment will be made in Calvary Cemetery in Hudson with Military Honors conducted by the Hannan-Colvin Post #180, American Legion of Hudson. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard, in the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m.
