R. Scott Ferguson

We, as family, are sad to announce that on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 7:25 pm at his home in Steinbach, Randall Scott Ferguson put off his mortal body and peacefully entered the presence of his Heavenly Father. He fell asleep in the arms of his wife and woke up in the arms of Jesus.

Scott leaves behind his wife Carla Anne; daughter Sarena and son Stewart; his step-children Ahria (Joey) Reimer, Aethan (Ashlyn) Coroy, McCaellen (Christy) Coroy, and Myanna Coroy; as well as grandchildren: Gryffon, Caspian & Sparrow Reimer, and Cazden, Brielle & Torin Coroy. Scott is survived by parents Garnet & Olive Ferguson, parents-in-law Cornie & Susan Funk and John & Sally Letkeman. Also left to grieve are his siblings: Colleen (Robert) Embree, Kent (Dena) Ferguson, Kaylene (Sam) Walter, Kevin (Shauna) Ferguson, Marla Joy (Kemtal) Glasgow, Deborah (Kevin) Barkley, Linda Holo, Elizabeth (Lonnie) Ferguson, and Justin Ferguson, and their families. In-law siblings are Darwin (Sherri) Funk, Bev (Rod) Fast, Doug (Cath) Letkeman, and Char (Cal) Bergen, and their families. Scott was predeceased by his wife Rhonda (née Letkeman).

Scott was born in Moose Jaw, SK and has lived in Avonlea, Estevan, Carnduff, SK and Brandon, St. Pierre-Jolys, Kleefeld, Steinbach, Newton Siding, and Elm Creek, MB.

Scott started his relationship with Jesus when he was 9 years old, was baptized in October 1985 and obeyed him faithfully his whole life.

Scott met his wife Rhonda in Steinbach and married her in 1991. Together they had two children. Scott loved and served her faithfully in sickness and in health, being her biggest supporter and caregiver during her 17-year struggle with MS. Scott and Rhonda lived out their faith and love for God & each other, until her passing in 2020.

Scott married Carla Anne in 2022. Together they faced many of Scott’s surgeries, treatments and struggles as cancer metastasized through his body. Their faith in God, and their love for each other was visible to all.

Scott’s passions were two-fold: Christian Rock music and seeing people find freedom in Christ.

Scott’s hobbies as a youth included artistic endeavors, listening to music and riding his unicycle. His vinyl records were his friends when he felt alone and out of place during his school years. Scott discovered his love of the open road on his CanAm Spyder in 2016.

Scott’s working years included many short-term jobs. He served as a Youth Pastor in two churches; worked part-time in janitorial for many years, and started with Canada Post part-time in 1997. He transitioned to full-time when he took the Elm Creek Postmaster position in 2019.

Scott was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2020. The spread of cancer to his lungs in 2021 was fast & furious yet Scott remained encouraged. When the brain tumours came, Scott kept living in peace & joy, knowing his future was secure in Christ.

Scott held on tightly to this passage as he experienced its truth.

Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

We miss him now but look forward to seeing him again in the Kingdom of Heaven - soon.
