Fatherly visit
I had to stop by today. I really miss you. We all can use your positivity lately. We love and miss you!!! Love you!!!
Even in the face of cancer, our dad stood with unshakable strength, a quiet smile, and a heart full of love. His courage taught us grace, his laughter gave us hope, and his love still holds us together.
Keith Arlyn Grimm age 63, passed away the morning of August 22, 2024 during a quiet coffee time at home with loved ones at his side. Keith, of Rapid City, SD was born October 29, 1960 to David and Gloria (Koch) Grimm in New Underwood, SD. Three short years later, Keith’s family moved to a quaint house in Rapid Valley where he spent the rest of his childhood creating memories with his two brothers, Dale and Les.
Keith grew up in a loving home, and often spoke of how idyllic his childhood was. He spent his younger years playing with his brothers, honing his puzzling and card skills with his mother, and chasing the races with his family. Keith attended Central High School, class of 1978 and went on to work at Foam Insulators where he met the love of his life, Shelly. The two started their journey on a foundation of friendship that quickly grew into a lasting marriage and four beautiful children: Alicia, Melissa, John, and Tyler. It became apparent quite quickly in Keith’s journey as a father that he would do anything to give his children a childhood and life similar to the one he enjoyed so much himself. Keith and his family spent countless weekends building a family cabin in the hills that ended up becoming more of a lesson on building strong foundations, persevering through the unexpected, and finding joy in the moments they could connect as a family. In his passing, Keith’s legacy includes his Wife: Shelly. Children: Alicia Grimm, Melissa Beshara (Tony), Johnathan Grimm, and Tyler Grimm. Grandchildren: Kaiden and Kobi Grimm, and Owen and Emmett Beshara. Father: David Grimm. Sibling: Dale Grimm (Lena). Sister-in-Law: Christal Grimm.
It would come as no surprise to those who knew Keith that he had an entrepreneurial spirit and was never afraid of a challenge. Keith’s lifelong dream was to own a family run campground, of which he fulfilled in 2005 with Wild Bill’s Campground in Deadwood, SD. Amidst the challenges of a campground came beautiful friendships and endless memories. In addition to the campground, Keith enjoyed his weekly breakfast dates with friends and family, pool league, ATV and snowmobile outings, and his annual NASCAR trips.
Keith, through his unsuspecting humor, calm demeanor, and lighthearted joking had a knack for leaving a lasting impression on anyone he met. He will forever be known by those he loved as an amazing husband, father, and grandpa and the person who could always be counted on to show up in any time of need. Keith was a one-of-a-kind man with an obituary that could go on and on. Keith slipped away in a quiet moment on Thursday morning where he snuck away to meet his loving mother Gloria and brother Les for a beautiful breakfast in heaven.
