Life story

Nat was born in Westford Mass and educated at Westford Academy. Nat in his younger years was a boxer in the Lowell area and was a wrestler known as “the Scissors king”. He was a race car owner/driver, who was known for starting the racing career of Hall of Fame driver and co-owner of Holman and Moody Competition Proven. Ralph Moody was Nat’s best man and the builder of all Ford NASCAR racing vehicles in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Nat was an avid tennis player in Ocean Park and in Seminole tennis club in the St. Petersburg Florida area. Nat retired after 25 years at the Bedford VA hospital. In his retirement he maintained the Ocean Park clay courts until he was well into his 80s. This effort has continued with our tennis members and family volunteers picking up where he and his tennis friends left off. Donations in his Name can be made to the Ocean Park association at PO Box 7296, Ocean Park,Me 04063 for the Nat Whitney tennis fund. This fund was established in 2007. Most recently over $7,000 was used to repair the flood damage courts and other loses due to water damage. The fund has been used to purchase equipment, court improvements and materials over the last 17 years.
