Life story

Scott was an amazing and loving husband to Jennifer and father of Kalil, Zane, Savannah, Micah, Josiah, Gideon and Malachi . He loved all those the Lord placed into his life especially his church family. The Lord allowed him to start a church in Elkridge, Md where he enjoyed serving the Lord and his church family. Scott was not afraid to speak the truth and stand for right. He served in the Navy for 14 years which he enjoyed. His favorite things to do were spend time with the Lord in reading His Word and in prayer and spending time with his family. He always made a point to teach in all areas of life and help others by sharing what he had learned.

Scott - husband, father and pastor

Scott was my husband, my best friend and a strong and faithful father to our 7 children. He was an involved father and was always available for them. When I met Scott I was attracted to his smile, his beautiful green eyes and most of all his love for the Lord Jesus but after 24 years I have fallen in love with everything about him. Scott was easy to talk to and made friends easily. He never had a problem saying what was on his mind. Scott enjoyed life to its fullest and was always learning new things either by reading or via youtube. Scott had a vision for not only himself and his family but church family. Scott loved to travel and loved learning about different countries, languages, people & their foods. Scott would often try to get others to try something new. Scott loved to read and has passed this on to his children. Scotts mom described him as tenacious and he was with the Bible, his convictions and his family. Scotts dad describes him as a Go getter. When Scott saw that something needed to be done he did it or had the kids do it…….often using the terms Foot fire, foot fire. He was not afraid to try new things. I loved this about him, life with Scott was an adventure. Scott was called to be in ministry and after 14 years of serving Uncle Sam he stepped out by faith and trusted God for everything. He didn’t waiver in his decision. God called so he answered and he came here to Elkridge to start High Point Independent Baptist church. Scott loved the military but serving the Lord in ministry was his greatest adventure and He put his whole self in it! He would often say that there isn’t anything else he would ever want to do. Every so often he would reminisce of the days in the military and his travels but he wouldn’t trade being a Pastor. Scott was a caring Pastor and friend if you attended High Point you knew this. He loved people enough to tell them the truth. Not too many people are truth speakers anymore….Scott was. I’m going to miss hearing him break out into song from his office while he is studying. I will miss our interesting conversations. The “Wow guess what I just read in the Bible…..have you ever seen that!” I will miss the times we spent in the morning quietly reading in the same room. Scott has passed on his love for the Lord to our children and he has taught them to love God and keep Him first no matter what. He has also passed on a plethora of other lessons—a lot of times these lessons came as he hung out with the children on the street putting the trash out after soul winning. They would solve all the problems of the world out there. Scott was a preacher of truth and a teacher of the Word and passed on the knowledge he had to any that would take time to listen. He loved to help people learn and to get them out of themselves. The verse that sticks out to me for my husband is Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” The song “a few good men” sums up a lot of what I thought of scott. What this dying world could use is a willing Man of God Who dares to go against the grain and works without applause A man who'll raise the shield of Faith, protecting what is pure Whose love is tough and gentle; a man whose word is sure God doesn't need an Orator who knows what just to say He doesn't need authorities to reason Him away He doesn't need an army to guarantee a win He just needs a few good men Men full of compassion, who laugh and love and cry Men who'll face Eternity and aren't afraid to die Men who'll fight for freedom and honor once again He just needs a few good men Lastly, he loved God with all his heart, mind & soul and he loved God’s Word and adhered to it. Scott you will be missed but not forgotten and the lessons you have taught will carry on here. Love you sweetheart. We will meet again!
