Karen Jean Welch, 68 of Energy, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Karen was a substitute teacher for school districts in Williamson County.
Karen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Foxcroft Ward in Johnston City. IL.
Karen was born April 19, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Francis and Lois Jean (Nix) Hamill.
Karen was united in marriage with Charles W. Welch on March 18, 1978 in LaPorte, IN.
Surviving is her husband of 43 years, Charles W. Welch of Energy; her children, Michael Marion Welch of Perryville, MO, Karl (Kara) Welch of Globe, AZ, A. Aaron (Amanda) Welch of Benton, Kari (Lance) Goodbar of DeSoto; Alta Marie Anderson of Herrin; fifteen grandchildren, Alexandra Welch, Cameron (Sarah) Welch, Adrien Thomas, Abigail “Abby” Welch, Austin Welch, Kara Goodbar, Lillian Goodbar, Alta Goodbar, Leonard Goodbar, Michael Webb, Katelynn Hillman, Charles Gregory “Chase” Welch, Madison Welch, Matthew Akers and Rosemarie Akers; sister, Teri Clark of Chandler, AZ; brother, Brad Hamill of Chandler, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Hamill.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Foxcroft Ward, 17947 IL Route 37, Johnston City, IL with Bishop Chris Behan officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Interment will be in Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin.
