Susan “Sue” Evans Janes
If you knew our mom…
You know she liked to write things down
Making sure we don’t forget,
A post-it could always be found.
Whether in a notebook or on a post-it
-Or even a letter time to time
Often when honoring someone special
mom would make it rhyme.
So it seemed only fitting
That we rhyme for her today
Trying to make this a little lighter,
So we can say what we need to say.
Mom lived a life of wonder,
Every pretty sky she’d give a nod.
If you showed her a picture of a sunset-
She’d exclaim- “There is a God!”
She had a great sense of humor,
and could always see the good.
Pointing out the positive
even when no one else could.
Whenever something was lost
It was “Tony, Tony turn around”
She swore Granny had a direct line to him
When something needed to be found.
Always the encourager,
she would be the first to celebrate our success
But when it came to games she was a bit competitive- She liked to be the best!
Speaking of winning,
She ruled the basketball & tennis courts
She would take you down in ping pong too
Losing? She’d have nothing of the sort!
Searching for seashells
the beach she would comb
While under his umbrella Dad would ask
“when are we going home?”
Always crafting with the kids- nothing would go to waste.
She could make something out of anything- but always in good taste.
Many may remember her with her big Christmas cookie tray.
Holiday games were her favorite - but only if done her way.
Her friendships were never lacking - and most were lifelong too.
She always made time for her friends,
No matter what there was to do.
She and Dad had something special
for over 50 years in fact.
Although the bickering rarely ended,
Their love was always intact.
How lucky we all were to be a part of her trips around the sun
We hope that you all remember, that
it’s only just begun.
When you see a pretty cardinal or
A sunset that takes your breath away.
Know that its mom saying- she see you another day.
