Michael Jason Carr
Michael Jason Carr was born on October 16, 1972, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Thurman “Junior” and Carmen Carr. He was the youngest of three boys, following his older brothers, Mark and Jeff Carr. From an early age, Mike carried a quiet strength, a deep love for family, and a personality that made people feel comfortable the moment they met him.
Mike built a career as a machinist and spent 10 years at Pioneer Technology Center as a Machine Tool Instructor, where he took great pride in teaching and mentoring students. He loved working with his hands, solving problems, and helping others learn a trade that he respected deeply.
Above everything else in life, Mike’s greatest joy was being a father to his three children — Chase, Grayson, and Kinley. Anyone who knew him knew how much he loved them. He spoke about his children with unmistakable pride and found happiness in the simple moments they shared together. Whether it was fishing with his dad, taking nature hikes with Grayson, golfing with Chase, Joe, Leo, and Harold, or sitting on the floor playing Barbies with Kinley, Mike treasured every moment with the people he loved most.
Mike had a passion for music, especially Pearl Jam, and he was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. One of his prized possessions was an autographed jersey signed by Terry Bradshaw. He also never passed up a chance to enjoy his mom’s famous sausage balls, something family and friends still smile about today.
Mike passed away on September 1, 2020, in Mesa, Arizona. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on those who loved him remains immeasurable. He is remembered for his love of family, his sense of humor, his loyalty to friends, and the deep pride he carried for his children.
He is survived by his parents, Junior and Carmen Carr of Kaw City; his children, Michael Chase Carr, Grayson Carr, and Kinley Carr; his former wife and special friend, Mindy Meyer of Ponca City; his brothers, Jeff Carr of Tulsa and Mark Carr of Charleston, South Carolina; his grandmother, Celestine Lucas of Broken Arrow; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Mike’s memory continues to live on through the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
