Life story

Wilson Paul Guidry, born July 27, 1954, was a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge, where he was born, raised, and deeply rooted in the community he loved. Wilson passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, hard work, and unforgettable memories.

Wilson was a true outdoorsman at heart. He found peace in the woods and along the water, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. Whether it was early mornings in a deer stand or casting a line before sunrise, those moments brought him joy and stories he loved to share.

He was a proud supporter of local traditions, especially Friday night football in Breaux Bridge. You could find him in the stands blowing his horn by the end zone cheering on the team, or helping to coach in the stands. On Thursdays, he was often behind the scenes cooking for the players - making sure they were well fed and ready for the game. Serving others, especially the kids in his community, meant a great deal to him.

Wilson also had special talents in the kitchen and garden. He loved cooking for family and friends, bringing everyone together over a good meal. His homegrown peppers for homemade chow chow was a favorite, and he was known for making his own moonshine - a craft he perfected and proudly shared with those close to him. His home was always a place of good food, good company, and plenty of laughter.

More than anything, Wilson cherished his family and his friends. He valued time spent together, whether around a dinner table, at a football game, out in the woods, at the camp, or sitting outside swapping stories. His presence was steady, generous, and full of heart.

He will be remembered for his strong spirit, his love of the outdoors, his dedication to his community, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky Allemand Guidry; son, Cy Guidry (Stacie) of Breaux Bridge; daughter, Tessie Guidry-Duhon (Bucky) of Carencro; grandchildren, Logan Guidry, Skyler Guidry, Bliss Guidry, all of Breaux Bridge, Emma Duhon and Lowell Duhon, both of Idaho; brother, Russell Guidry (Kathy) of Breaux Bridge; father-in-law, Edrick "Pete" Allemand of Breaux Bridge; brother-in-law, Ronald Boudreaux (Sharon) of Catahoula; sister-in-law, Marella A. Delahoussaye of Breaux Bridge; uncle, Jimmy Guidry (Jeanette) of Coteau Holmes; and his "grand-doggers", Daisy Mae and Elsie Bell.

Missing Mr. Wilson

I will miss Mr. Wilson so much! He was a very important part of my jr high, high school, and college years. Being the best friend of his only daughter, Tessie, I became like a second daughter to him and Mrs. Becky. I always felt welcome and at home. He never hesitated to make my favorite vegetable soup because he knew I loved it so much. One of my favorite memories was getting his permission and encouragement to dress as him for Halloween, complete with a pair of his signature blue jean overalls and a tobacco can in the pocket. He was such a presence in the Breaux Bridge community that people recognized who I was. Some even took offense because they thought I was making fun of him and I had to explain several football players that I did indeed have his blessing to have such a costume. I could go on and on with memories because he was an amazing man. He will be missed dearly. Love KK
