A son, a brother, a father, a Bubba (grandfather), a friend. We will love and remember him, always.
Life story

Robert Vance Mitchell was a beloved father, son, bubba (grandfather), brother, and friend. He had a warmth that drew people in and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Smart, witty, and full of life, Robert had a way of making everyone feel like family.

He had a deep love for the simple joys in life—especially fishing and spending time by the ocean. The beach was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace, laughter, and connection. Whether he was casting a line or just enjoying the sea breeze, it was where he felt most at home.

Robert seemed to know everyone, and everyone knew him. His presence lit up a room, and his stories, wisdom, and laughter will be missed more than words can express.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. Though he may be gone, his spirit remains in the waves, the memories, and the love he gave so freely.

First Impressions That Last

Mr. Mitchell— I still remember the first time I met you—I was 14, nervous as hell, coming over to your home for dinner with Kassandra. You grilled what’s still, hands down, the best steak (meat) I’ve ever had. But what really stuck with me was when you looked over to your right at me at the table, like, “Who is this kid, and what are his intentions?” You didn’t need to say much—you knew how to put the fear of God in me, and honestly, it stuck with me to this day. You were the first girlfriend’s dad I ever met, and you made sure I knew I had to earn your respect. You set the bar high as it should be. I always respected you for that—and in a lot of ways, looked up to you too. That moment left a mark on me, and I’ve never forgotten it. Steaks are on me next time. I’ll be back again soon. - James W.

James WardIt felt really good to finally visit him! Seeing how close our dads are resting caught me off guard a little—it just made me realize how much love, and how many memories, really stay with you even as time moves on. I’ll be sure to visit him whenever I go see my dad.
