Curt was more than just a simple man. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father and a papaw. He was loved by many. He is missed by all of us.
Curt was born in Harlan Kentucky on March 12th 1946. He was one of ten children. In 1965 he married his wife Glenda whom he would be married to for the next 57 years. In 1967 he would welcome his first child. A daughter named Mona. In 1970 he would welcome his son Curt Jr. In 1978 Curt and Glenda would open their home to Glenda’s nephew Randy and they would raise him as one of their own. Curt would proudly work for General Motors for over 33 years before retiring at the age of 55. In the fall of 1990 Curt would become a Papaw for the first time. He would end up with five beautiful granddaughters who he loved very much. Curt was a man of few words. He was very observant and would speak when he needed to. He was a simple man. Give him his chair, his tv, and a glass of pop and he was a happy camper. Speaking of camping Curt loved going camping with Glenda and various members of the family. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. He would spend his Sunday afternoons watching the races with Glenda. He was a tough dad when growing up but it made us all better people. He was an amazing Papaw to his granddaughters and great grandchildren. He will forever be loved and missed every day.
I want to thank my dad for choosing me. Curt and Glenda took me in when I was a 5 month old baby. I appreciate them making this decision and raising me as their own child. My dad was tough on us but it was for our own good. He was a hard working man and a man of few words. He wasn’t the kind to come out and tell us he loved us or was proud of us. That just wasn’t his way. But deep down you knew he loved you and was proud of us. He is missed every day. I would give anything to hear him get annoyed and call me a smart ass one more time. I love you dad.
