Madeline R. Webb (DeSimone), 79, of Carlisle, PA, and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Born on January 5, 1947, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Antimo and Davina DeSimone. Madeline was the devoted wife of Robert Webb, with whom she shared over 56 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Robert (Kristina) Webb, Kristine (Larry) Barrick, and Dianne (Christopher) Powers.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by eight grandchildren: Samantha (Dylan) Palmer, Madison (Jacob) Sloop, Claudia (Devin) Cooke, Robert (Kendall) Webb, Megan (Andrew) Slear, Alexxa (Bryan) Sayers, Wyatt Barrick, and Christopher Powers II; and six great-grandchildren: Bobby, Hudson, Bo, Zachary, Davina, and Beckett, with a seventh (girl) expected soon. She is also survived by her sister, Denise (George) Oswald, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Robert DeSimone, Sr.
Madeline retired from the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill. Known for her humor and boundless compassion, she and Bob traveled the world, but her greatest joy was her family. Whether attending sporting events or cooking family meals, she made every member of her family feel like they were her favorite. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewings Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. A prayer service will be held Thursday following her viewing at the funeral home. Interment will be held after the service in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
April 26, 2026 I became a grandma (GiGi) for the first time. You left us before seeing me become a grandma, you left before being able to see and hold our first grandbaby. I know you were with us during Alexxa's delivery and we all know that you held our precious little Blaire Madelynn before she came into our world. We miss you terribly. Continue to send us signs. You Are My Favorite - love you forever - Dianne
This past weekend we celebrated Alexxa and Bryan's baby shower. I always wished mom would be here to see Chris and I become grandparents and hold my grandbabies just like she has with my brother and sister. But we all know she is watching and smiling down on us. Dad joined us at the baby shower and in this phone Alexxa and Grandpa are making space for Grandma to be seated in between them. xoxox
Madeline was born January 5, 1947 to Antimo and Davina DeSimone in Brooklyn, NY. She was the oldest of three siblings.
At the time she may not have realized it, but she met the love of her life when she was 12 years old, in the 7th grade at St. Paul's Catholic school in Brooklyn, NY. Madeline and Bob were both in the same 7th grade class taught by Sister Margaret and they were fortunate enough to have been in the same 8th grade class taught by Sister Patricia.
Both were shy at the time (I know hard to believe). After graduating the 8th grad Bob's family moved to Queens, but they stated in touch by sending birthday cards, Christmas cards and an occasional letter. After High School Bob took Madeline to the 1964 Worlds Fair in Queens, NY (because she was his Queen). Bob then joined the Navy. About a year later Madeline sent a letter to Bobs families house in Queens, where his younger brother, Bill forwarded the letter to Bob while he was stationed overseas. That is when Bob went Awal..... just kidding! Now the two were keeping the mail man busy!!!
After many letters back and forth, Bob came home on leave and after many attempts Madeline realized how irresistible Bob was.... the size of the ring helped too - and she agreed to marry him.
They married May 3, 1969 at St. Brigid Church in Westbury, NY.
Wanting to start a family, they had their 1st wonderful, handsome, fabulous son named Robert. Since he was SOOO perfect they decided to have another baby, to their disappointment.... We are kidding, they had a little girl who stole their hearts named Kristine. 4 1/2 years later to Bob and Madeline's surprise GOD blessed them with an ANGEL that snorts when she laughs, Dianne.
This beautiful, loving, funny family of five lived life to the fullest and did everything together. Bobby, Kristine and Dianne quickly learned to dodge mom's wooden spoon as well (note - Kristine would often times fetch the spoon for mom to use on Bobby and Dianne)! LOL
In 1984 the family moved from East Islip, NY to Carlisle, PA.
After some time their son Bob married Kristina, a year later Kristine married Larry and three years later Dianne married Christopher. Their unions were blessed. Madeline and Bob always treated Kristina, Larry and Christopher as their own children.
The amily continued to grow and Madeline and Bob were blessed with 8 wonderful grandchildren; Samantha (Dylan), Madison (Jacob), Claudia (Devin), Bobby (Kendall), Megan (Andrew), Alexxa (Bryan), Wyatt and Christopher. Most of the grandchildren are now married and the blessings continue with 6 beautiful great grandchildren; Bobby, Hudson, Bo, Zachary, Davina and Beckett with another great granddaughter arriving in May.
Each and every one of Madeline's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were always #1 in her heart, as she was always #1 in theirs. Bob and Madeline always considered their family as their greatest achievement in life.
This family loved together, laughed together, and cried together. They enjoyed family gatherings, loved to pick and play jokes on each other as well.
Bob and Madeline would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this May - all which have been wonderful, loving, happy and adventurous years together. During their 57 years together, they traveled throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East and Ireland.
Family meant everything to her and her family is truly blessed to have her in theirs.
She is missed greatly by all.
From the very beginning, Grandma (and Poppy, too) were the glue that held our whole family together. They have taught us how to live life to the fullest, love unconditionally, and find joy in the simplest things. Grandma was so full of life and her humor and spunk had a way of making everyone around her laugh, no matter the moment. She always made sure that each of us felt so special.
Some of our favorite memories are just going to her house. We were always told to come at mealtime, and she would never let us leave without a full stomach. She loved having us try her newest recipes and her family classics, and we loved learning how to make them right alongside her. She truly was the most amazing cook.
But the time we spent in the kitchen wasn’t just about the food—it was about a home filled with love. Grandma and Poppy shared stories, life advice, and so much laughter that we cried (or snorted). We will always hear her singing “Mamma Mia” or “Wild Thing,” and we will always carry the stories she shared, with us.
Thank you, Grandma, for loving us so deeply. Our hearts are broken, but your love will forever shine and your legacy will live on through us all. We will miss you always, and love you forever.
All of our love, Mad (Madison), Lara (Megan), and WILD THING (Wyatt)
Today, we gather with heavy hearts, but also with deep gratitude, to honor and remember a remarkable woman.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a sister, an aunt, a very proud grandma, and a cherished great-grandma.
Family was the center of her world, and everyone who knew her felt that love. She gave herself endlessly, not for recognition, but because caring for others was simply who she was.
One of the ways she showed her love was through her cooking. Her meals were more than food—they were comfort, tradition, and togetherness. Around her table, memories were made, laughter was shared, and bonds were strengthened. You never left her table hungry. And if you did, that was your own fault. LOL
She carried herself with strength and dignity throughout her life. Even in the face of hardship, she stood firm. She fought with courage, determination, and grace— showing us what it means to be strong even when the road is difficult.
And though we wished she could stay longer, we find comfort in knowing that her fight is over, her pain has ended, and she has been called home to Heaven.
Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the values she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.
Though we will miss her deeply, we rejoice in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and resting in the promise of eternal life.
Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and we have been forever blessed by the time we shared with her.
Rest in peace, Grandma.
I love you.
-your first granddaughter
Today we celebrate a life that shaped ours in the quietest, most beautiful ways. Grandma was love in its purest form—steady, generous, and always there. She taught us the importance of family, of showing up, of listening to stories from the past and carrying them forward. Her hugs felt like home, her laughter filled every room, and her wisdom will guide us long after this goodbye. We are better because of her, and we will carry her with us in everything we do. Forever loved, forever missed. 💐
