A memory of Kelsi
I miss you so damn much, sweetheart. You left such a big hole in my heart, our lives...dammit..I want you back. Mom
Kelsi Soenen, age 32 of Emmetsburg, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Palo Alto County Health System in Emmetsburg. Funeral Services for Kelsi will be 10:30 AM on Friday, February 13, at Grace Church in Emmetsburg. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, at Martin Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Services have been entrusted to Martin Mattice Funeral Home of Emmetsburg.
Kelsi Michelle Soenen, the daughter of Terry and Peggy (Blatchford) Meyers, was born on May 18, 1993 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Alta High School in 2011. Kelsi worked as a customer service representative for Farm Credit in Emmetsburg. On September 13, 2025, Kelsi was united in marriage to Chase Soenen at Highland Hills Hideout in Emmetsburg.
Kelsi loved cheering on her daughter, Karsyn, at gymnastics and wrestling events and was always one of her biggest supporters. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially treasured time spent with her dad, burning ditches and splitting wood. Some of her favorite moments were spent with Chase along the river, taking side-by-side rides together, putting their feet in the sandbar, and listening to music in the fur shack.
More than anything, Kelsi cherished time with her two beautiful daughters and her family. Her greatest happiness came from being with Chase and their girls, and her daughters will forever carry her love, laughter, and memory in their hearts. She had a gift for making people laugh and was always up for a good time, even jokingly known for running a little late. Kelsi had a witty personality, and if you texted her, she would often respond by correcting your spelling before replying to your message. She was also known for her love of cows and was proud of becoming a thriving farmer, starting with four chickens and happily expanding her herd to ten.
Left to cherish Kelsi’s memory are her husband, Chase Soenen of Emmetsburg; daughters, Karsyn Meyers and Maisyn Soenen; parents, Terry and Peggy Meyers of Alta; sisters, Katie (Bryan) Schrieber of Emmetsburg and Kily (Collin) Johnson of Aurelia; grandmother, Virginia “Ginger” Blatchford of Alta; mother-in-law, Della Coleman of Emmetsburg; father-in-law, Ronald Soenen of Emmetsburg; sister-in-law, Crystal (Pete) Menage of Algona; and brother-in-law, Kane (Ann) Soenen of Elk Point, SD.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Trudie (Ken) Nord; grandfathers, Dewey Blatchford and Art Meyers; and Tim & Ty Meyers and Todd Blatchford.

Today is your wedding anniversary. One year ago today we were getting ready for your wedding. Miss you!
Six Months Gone
6 months without you. 💔 Half a year has passed, and somehow that doesn’t even feel possible. There are still so many moments when I want to call you, tell you something, hear your laugh, or just have you here with us. Life keeps moving, but there will always be a space where you should be. I miss you more than words could ever explain, Kelsi. I hope you know how deeply you are loved, how often you are talked about, and how much we carry you with us every single day. 🤍🕊️ Love you forever
You are missed by so many, Kels
The Alta guys were at the tractor pulls at the fair. They sure missed you being there.
Happy 4th Kelsi
The holidays just hurt so much with out you. Sitting here watching our kids swim n play. You're supposed to be with me for all this Kels. I love you and miss you so much.
Missing you, Kels
Kelsi.... our lives have a huge empty space, honey. We're all missing you. Chase Bob is doing a good jobbers. Sometimes, I don't know how he does it, but he does. You'd be proud of him. The picture of Karsyn on his back looks and reminds me so much of you!!! ♡ I giggle at Maisyn's outfits...also reminds me of you! I have a video of your daughters singing your song! If I can figure out how to get that on here, I will post it. I love you, Kelsi...and miss you here.
Another big life event in the books, and once again we had to do it without you.
This weekend was Karsyn's National Tumbling competition in Madison, Wisconsin, and she made you so proud. She worked hard, showed up, and gave it everything she had. I know you would've been her biggest cheerleader. We had a great trip. Lots of laughs, memories, and time together as a family. But if I'm being honest, it just wasn't the same without you there. There was no one to sit by the pool with and pound a few beers. No one for Chase to stay up late with while the rest of us old, boring people went to bed early. No loud laugh echoing through the hotel. No random comments that would have us all laughing until we cried. We made it through another milestone, another memory, another family trip. And while it was a good one, there was a piece missing the entire time. We missed you in all the little moments and all the big ones. Karsyn made you proud, Kels. We all carried you with us this weekend. But man, I wish you would've been there to make the memories with us. Love you forever, Kelsi.
Getting some luck from our angel for nationals
Tomorrow we head to Madison Wisconsin for Karsyn’s national competition for tumbling. It’s what she works so hard for all year. It was always your little vacation for the summer. I know she will make you proud. It’s going to be a tough one without you. But I know you will be smiling down. We love and miss you so much
