Lidia Ramona Sheppard and Samuel Cyrus Sheppard-Stephen Jr., were residents of Luling for over 40 years. On December 19, 1967, Lidia wedded Samuel in holy matrimony, marking the beginning of a sacred union that endured for over four decades. Lidia was called home on March 19, 2024, proceeding her husband Samuel who was called home on August 17, 2010.
Samuel and Lidia were both natives of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic where they later relocated to Luling, Louisiana.
Those they leave to cherish their memory include their children: Samuel Sheppard IV, Victor Sheppard (Dynisha Sheppard), Americo Sheppard, Ricardo Sheppard (Patricia Sheppard), and Mariana Sheppard (AJ Porch); brother Angel Sheppard; sisters, Maria Sheppard and Carmen Sheppard; grandchildren, Americo Jr. (Megan Sheppard), Javier, Ricardo Jr., Victoria, Julian, Angelina, Savannah, Estevan, Karla, and Victor; great grandchildren, Aria, Averigh, Weston and Gianna; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Today is hard. It’s 3 months since you reunited with pawpaw and it feels so weird to have you gone. Today is the first day I’ve been able to bring myself to come and see you. Gianna is here with me today, too. The weather isn’t the best, but it’s just us… so there is a peace that is here. I’m at a loss for words. I think of you everyday. Weston sends his besitos, your favorite. Today, I’ll watch the many videos I have of you dancing, playing with the kids, and enjoying life while you were still earthbound. I love you.
