Guglielmina Cirelli
"Brethren, we gather here to honor and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable soul, Guglielmina Cirelli, affectionately known as Mina to all who loved her. Born on January 23, 1932, in the quaint Italian town of Petruro Irpino, Naples, Italy, Mina was a beacon of love and warmth until her peaceful passing on January 6, 2024, in Roslyn, New York.
Guglielmina's journey began under the Italian sun, where she was cradled in the arms of a loving family and community. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, a love that crossed oceans and was shared with her devoted husband of 67 years, Luigi, and their cherished children, Elvira and Saverio. The circle of her love expanded with the joys of her grandchildren, Michael, Claudia, Jacqueline, Adrienne, and Matthew, and the embrace of her son-in-law, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Theresa. Though her heart ached at the loss of her brother Gaetano, she found comfort in the presence of her brothers, Tullio and Plinio.
Guglielmina's hands, always busy, were an extension of her heart. She was a gifted seamstress who wove her love into every stitch, teaching us that the fabric of a family is strengthened by the threads of devotion and care. Her talents blossomed in the gardens she tended and in the kitchen where she conjured the flavors of her homeland, blessing us with aromas and tastes that will linger in our memories. Guglielmina's spirit danced through life, finding joy in the simple pleasures of her favorite television shows, from the drama of "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "Un Poste al Sole" to "Dancing with the Stars" and the cheerful laughter of "America's Funniest Home Videos."
Her faith was the compass by which she navigated life's seas, praying the rosary with a fervor that lit the path for all who knew her. She had a devotion to Padre Pio, the Blessed Mother, and many other saints. In her, we saw the embodiment of the words of the apostle Paul, who wrote to the Galatians, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). Guglielmina bore our burdens with a grace and kindness that lifted our spirits and guided us closer to the divine.
Guglielmina's legacy is not merely in the meals she prepared or the clothes she crafted, but in the love she lavished upon us all. She was the heart of our family, a wellspring of creativity, a constant source of kindness. Her laughter was a melody that resonated through the rooms of our homes, and her wisdom was a guiding light that shone brightly, even in the darkest of times.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Guglielmina, let us hold fast to the love she shared with us. Let us weave that love into the fabric of our own lives, stitching together memories that will comfort us in the days to come. Her spirit continues to dance among the stars, watching over us, her family, her greatest pride and joy.
And so, as we lay Guglielmina Cirelli to rest, let us rejoice in the knowledge that she has found her peace in the arms of the Almighty. Let us remember her not with sorrow but with the joy she brought into our lives. For as long as we live, she too will live, for she is a part of us, as we remember her. Amen."
