Leah Ruby Chivers Alexander
Leah Ruby Chivers Alexander (96) passed away Friday, May 10, 2024
at the Landmark Assisted Living in Vernal, Utah. She was born October 26, 1927 in Vernal, Uintah County, Utah to Dee Doris and Maybell (Robbins) Chivers. She was the oldest child of six children and was raised in the Vernal area.
Leah graduated from high school in 1946. She married Earl L.
Alexander on July 31, 1946 in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 5, 1964.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in various ward and stake callings including Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary. She was also called to be an ordinance worker in the Vernal, Utah Temple. Earl and Leah served an LDS mission in the Missouri St. Louis Mission.
Leah's greatest love was her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved fixing family dinners and sneaking goodies to her grandchildren. She would always support her family in any event they participated in. She loved everyone and was willing to help anyone at any time. Leah has a great love for her Savior, Jesus Christ and a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Leah is survived by daughters Christine (Blaine) Colton, St. George;
Nancy (Bill) Milton, St. George, and son Michael (Kathy) Alexander of Vernal.
Grandchildren: Brian (Merradee) Alexander, Russell (Jennifer)
Alexander, Tracey (Devin) Batty, Stacie Tew, Sean (Susan) Colton, Anthony (Sue) Colton, Kelly (Katie) Colton, Jason (Courtney) Aycock, Jenny (Mike) Hardy, Chelsey Blackburn and Madison Aycock. She is also survived by her sister, Deon McLean, and brothers, Jimmy Chivers and Douglas (Paula) Chivers. She was also proud of having 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Jack Chivers; and sister Joy Horrocks; granddaughters, Nancy Ann and Nikki Lee Aycock.
The family would like to thank all those compassionate people who cared for her at the Landmark Assisting Living and the Rocky Mountain Hospice.
