Portrait of Elijah Joey Garcia
In Loving Memory of

Elijah Joey Garcia

May 10, 2006 – January 19, 2024
Lived 17 years
Mount Olive Memorial Park · Big Spring, Texas
Life story

He was born May 10, 2006 in Big Spring, Texas. He was raised by his mother Brandy Garcia and his grandmother Lynda Arista. He lived in Big Spring, TX and attended Big Spring High School. Elijah’s good heart and likeable personality both helped make him popular at school as he was in the community. He had an impeccable work ethic and accomplished many of the goals he set for himself.

Elijah is survived by his mom, Brandy; grandmother, Lynda; little brother, Joshua; and little sister, Alexis; and his father Andrew Juarez. He will be missed greatly by all.

Elijah was a force. He could change the atmosphere of a room with just his presence. He was always like that, even as baby. His mischievous smile could easily sway you, whether he wanted more snacks or when he got older, a ride somewhere. It was hard to say no to him and he knew it too. His charisma was almost unmatched compared to his genuine heart. He cared deeply for his mom, Brandy, his grandmother Lynda and his brother and sister. He protected his siblings and cousins in a way only a brother can. It didn’t matter if you weren’t actually related to him, if he claimed you, you were a part of him and you felt it. You also felt it when he was upset with you. He truly lived life passionately. He was playful and curious in all the best ways. He had a way of making the mundane feel extraordinary. Everything was worth celebrating and you could find him dancing, taking pictures, being silly, or laughing. His laughter was infectious and could fill up a room.

He was also ambitious, and goal orientated. It was inspiring to see him work so hard to buy his first car by the age of 14. If he made up his mind about something, he was going to do it. Words cannot express the void he left behind. The world has lost some of its color and light. In his very short time here on earth, we can learn from him. Celebrate the mundane, love and protect one another and most of all live passionately. Let us not forget “ and after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you” 1st Peter 5:10
