Life story

Jason was born to Judy Grill and Vance Tolstrup, seven minutes before his twin brother Dustin on March 2, 1971. Jason and Dustin were one of a kind, always always together, raised there families together, working side be side throughout there whole lives. Riding dirt bikes, hunting, fishing, rafting and flying around Alaska is just a little of what these two brothers did together! Jason was a loving, caring and loyal husband to his wife Kaye. He loved her with his whole heart. Where he went he took Kaye along. Showing and teaching her everything he could, he gave her the world. He was patient, proud, caring father to his daughters Kallie, Wynter, and Maci. Kallie was his pride and joy raising her as a single parent for years before Kaye and the girls came into their lives. Making Kaye’s daughters his own. He did a lot of first for Wynter and Maci teaching them to skate, ski, rides bike you name it he taught them! He instilled in all his daughters that no matter what you can always do better and always try to make others happy. He was the best dad to all of his daughters. Jason was a loving and caring and giving man to all who knew him even to a complete strangers. Jason was always willing to give a helping hand. He dedicated his life to his family and community. He wanted to make people happy and to make them smile and he did that a million times over with the Glenn Highway Christmas Tree. He lit the Glenn Highway Christmas Tree year after year for 20 years, just to see people smile and be happy. He leaves the tree in the hands of his twin brother Dustin and his family, wife Lorie and nephew Connor who will continue his legacy for years to come!

My favorite tree!

I'm sad to say I didn't know Jason personally. But for 20 years or so I traveled many miles through out Alaska during winters (and summers). My favorite tree was always there to tell me you are almost home. Thank you for always lighting the way Jason. You brightened so many gloomy dark hours for me and my children and grandchildren. I'll say a prayer for you and your family every time I drive the hwy.
