Life story

Anna Aubrey Schiferl, age 26, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. Anna was born in Madison on Sept. 23, 1996. She is the precious daughter of James and Melissa, younger sister to Alan and Daniel, and soulmate to Bryce.

Anna grew up in the Stoughton area where she was involved in numerous sports and activities while in school. She especially enjoyed being part of the Stoughton wrestling team and showing pigs through 4-H at the local fairs for several years. She attended UW-Oshkosh where she continued to work with the wrestling team as a manager, graduating in 2020 with a degree in Communications. Anna loved to travel, dance, sing and attend concerts. She also enjoyed painting and making and giving gifts to others.

Anna is survived by her parents, James and Melissa Schiferl of Stoughton; her brothers, Alan (Lauren Macho) of Madison and Daniel (Lana) of Willowbrook, Ill.; boyfriend, Bryce Werning (dog Axel) of Lowell; grandparents, Gunder and Berniece Rein of Stoughton, and Janice (Raymond) Walenton of Whitewater; several uncles, aunts, cousins and innumerable friends. Anna was preceded by her grandfather Raymond J. Schiferl.

Services will be held at Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 2642 Church Rd. Cottage Grove, at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, with the Rev. Trent Saari officiating. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, and at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. A private burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the UW Health Transplant Clinic. The family would like to thank the First Responders from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and Stoughton EMS; medical staff at the Stoughton Hospital; Med Flight; the compassionate caregivers at St. Mary’s Hospital and all those involved in the donor/recipient process. We also recognize the support of family and friends who have been with us through this very difficult time.

Anna had the ability to light up any room she walked into. We have heard so many wonderful stories the past several days about her bright spirit. If you have a favorite photo of Anna, the family would love to have a copy. Please write your memory on the back and bring it to the service so we can display it on the photo boards. In the true spirit of Anna, she will continue to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donations. We pray for blessings on all those families. Hold your loved ones tight. We are not guaranteed tomorrow.
