Life story

Linda L. (Laubacher) Ryle passed away on November 18, 2018 after a brief battle with lung cancer. Linda was born to Tom and Holly Laubacher in Santa Barbara, CA on September 27th, 1946. She was raised in Oxnard, CA where she attended Santa Clara High School. She graduated from the University of Santa Clara, where she met her husband of 48 years, Garrett P. Ryle MD. She spent her college summers working at Disneyland and later became an airline hostess for Trans World Airlines. Four months into her marriage, Linda's husband was ordered to Vietnam. To occupy herself, Linda taught grammar school in Oxnard, CA. Realizing she'd found her calling, Linda earned her teaching credentials and went on to teach at Holy Cross in Bryte, CA, and Our Lady of Grace in West Sacramento, CA. Linda was passionate about teaching; she touched the lives of her students and extended this passion to her family.

Linda was a loving mother and teacher to seven children. She has been a Sacramento resident for forty-seven years and a member of Sacred Heart Church. She loved her family and dedicated herself to her children's education, enrichment, and spiritual guidance. She devoted countless hours accompanying her children and their friends to myriad activities including baseball, soccer, swimming, tennis, Odyssey of the Mind, Academic Talent Search, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD), piano, ballet, tap dance, and voice lessons. When her youngest daughter was diagnosed autism, Linda taught herself everything about the disorder so that she could better help her daughter. She became a strong advocate for people with autism. Linda loved musical theatre and she supported local theatre companies. She will be missed terribly by her family, students, and friends she has left behind.

Preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Jim Laubacher, Linda is survived by her loving husband, Gary; their children Jerry and his husband Don, Jim, Joe and his wife Michelle who are expecting their first child soon, Annie, Casey, Tim and his wife Sara, and Molly; brother Tom Laubacher, his wife Barbara, and their children; sister Lisa Dennis, her husband Charlie Dennis M.D. and their children; and Patty Laubacher, wife of Jim, and their children.
