Montgomery Wayne Hawkins
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.“
Luke 8:15 "But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering, produce a crop" Montgomery Wayne Hawkins came from good soil. At 19, he passed away in a four-wheeler accident on the afternoon of August 7th, 2022.
Born May 1st, 2003, to
Sara Hawkins-Daniels at the Highland County district hospital, he was instantly a spark of kindness and mischief to our world. Those of us who loved him, and ache with his passing, know Montgomery by some of the other titles he held: Monty, Gummy, Squirrel, or Gumby. He was employed at Eagle stone quarry, following in line with his uncle, Jeremy Hawkins, and grandfather, Bob Hawkins, whom he greatly admired.
The roots of his family kept him grounded as he was busy kicking up dirt. Often times you could find him going on make-shift adventures with Ethan Pierce and Justin Knechtly. As the roots, the family also passed on that strength and grit, kindness and loyalty. Through his stepdad and acknowledged father figure, Jason Daniels, he grew into a man that we are all proud of.
He persevered through tough times and remained strong for those who were weak. He spread seeds of kindness and generosity, making sure to take care of the ones he held dear and giving without expectancy.
Montgomery was more than steadfast in his decision to care for his mother, sister, and brother. He was more than willing to help anyone in need and share his laughter with anyone nearby, with a smile bright enough to light up the room. His playful attitude is shared by his two dogs, German shepherd, Sarge, and basset hound, Copper. Sarge shares his firm loyalty, while Copper has his social and ornery demeanor. He certainly left a strong impression and touched hearts everywhere he went, while never failing to pass up a chance to pick on whoever was next to him. He is a reminder that there is nothing weak about kindness and compassion. There is nothing weak about looking out for others. He has harvested all the crops that he could, for the Lord has now called Montgomery home. And it now falls on us, his friends, family, and loved ones, to continue his work. That's how we will honor him.
That's how we can remember him, by taking his kindness within ourselves and giving unto others unconditionally, with a good and noble heart. May God bless the memory of Montgomery Wayne Hawkins.
