PSALM 18:1 I LOVE YOU O' LORD MY STRENGTH
Life story

Paulie Pryce Cortez was born October 20, 1999 at 10:44pm weighing in at 6lbs 13 oz. The first

born child to Paulie and Michele.

Paulie had a beautiful smile that conveyed his purpose in life; to help others. He had an

extraordinary ability to make each of us feel stronger and more confident in our own self. Paulie

was honorable, he was kind, he was more than fair, sweet, charismatic, he was adventurous, he

was loving and he was the most giving person. He cared with a passion, unlike anything I have

ever seen.

Paulie was the light of our life, his mothers Sonshine, her first true love, and the one who made

her a Mother. Over his short 21 years Paulie Pryce taught her more than she ever could have

taught him. He was everything good in this world. Those that knew him would agree that his

smile and laughter created an unforgettable atmosphere for all who were around him. Impatient,

funny and daring; he kept us all on our toes since the day he was born. For example, the time

he used his razor scooter as a helicopter and gave his brother Princeton staples in the head.

You couldn't stay upset with him too long. He was too funny, like for Christmas one year he gave

his mom a wooden spoon. He made sure to note that it was for cooking and not for spanking

him, but it later became his mom’s favorite weapon. When his sister Riley was a baby he threw

all of mommy's shoes into Riley's crib, right on top of his sister.

Paulie Wog had strong values. He was disciplined and respectful to everyone. Always held the

door open for his mother or a stranger. He prayed daily and wasn't ashamed of that. He was

dedicated to his family. He was a loving brother, a fun-time cousin and a loving nephew and

grandson.

Paulie Pryce was definitely a daddy's boy in his younger years. He loved travelling with his dad

and stealing his hats, something he never outgrew. Paulie Pryce had this thing with ear lobes.

He had to rub someone's ear to go to sleep. He would call it “hugging your ear”. It was

something he never outgrew.

He loved playing baseball, soccer, basketball and football from the time he could walk. Paulie

was coached by his dad, and he loved playing sports and having his dad right by his side. He

was a showboat and passionate to the point of tears. An example: he cried rounding all the

bases after hitting his first homerun. Something I think the boys wouldn’t let him forget.

At 10 years old he lucked out when Uncle bought him his first dirt bike. Riding every chance

they got, that bond between uncle and nephew grew to be unbreakable.Uncles old school

values were deeply instilled into the core of who Paulie was. It took the whole family to keep

Paulie busy, otherwise he would've dismantled the house board by board.

From 6 years old to high school our lives consisted of travelling for sports to cheer on our boy.

Grandpas, grandmas, uncles, aunts, everyone would go! He was so much fun to watch. So

dedicated, that he broke his arm at a baseball tournament at the coast and managed to score

before being taken to the emergency room.

Paulie hardly complained. He was a star. He played his role even if he wasn't the star. He did

what was needed for the team.

Paulie loved deeply. Especially his family. Family was everything to him. Even tattooing “OTF”

on his body, which stands for “Only the family”

For Paulie's 13th birthday all he wanted was to be baptized. And he was, by his great-grandpa

in his family church surrounded by all his family. He later introduced his friend to church and

shared his love for God.

Paulie was his mother's caregiver during her battle with cancer. Caring for his sister and brother

and taking care of mama when needed.

At the tender age of 12 after being the man of mama's house for so many years Paulie was

introduced to Andy, who would soon be his step dad and a vital part of his teenage years.

Constantly stealing shoes, hats and cologne when he wasn't looking. The two would grow to

form a bond that helped mold Paulie into the man he ultimately became. When Paulie wanted to

be romantic or plan dates, he would call his Dad Andy for flower advice and his uncle Richard

for the cool truck to take.

Paulie did manage to make sure all of us had anxiety throughout his 4 years of highschool. It

wasn’t until two hours before graduation that we found out if he was going to graduate. He was

involved in school activities and loved being the center of attention. I’m pretty sure everyone at

Western knew who he was. He had a welcoming smile that you just wanted to get to know.

Paulie had just begun to dream of his future, he was extraordinary. He had goals far beyond his

age! With over a 750 credit score for a 21 year old, and a new union job paving roads. He

recently talked to his pops (Andy) and mom, about proposing to his girlfriend Jaiyden on their

3rd anniversary, but first he needed to buy a house to have a home for her. He had it all figured

out. He was more mature than most people his age and a leader amongst his peers. He was an

inspiration to all his friends.

If there’s one thing that everyone would say the same about Paulie, it would be that he was

hilarious! It was always a good time with Paulie around.

That boy would make you laugh with his jokes, his stupid dances, his crazy comments.

Our hearts and lives are utterly shattered. We will never be the same. This loss is the worst

nightmare imaginable. Our world is a darker place without our shining light. We love you Baby

Paulie Pryce.
