My Daddy
My daddy was always there, if you wanted him or not. He was present in everything we did and was proud of his family. He taught us to love each other and to work hard. But most importantly to love God
Gary Long was born in Adolphus, KY in a one bedroom home on a farm that his parents share cropped. This small home was torn down in the early 1990s, however it could be seen from the family home where Gary and Sherry raised their family. Gary resided in Allen County his entire life and was the last graduating class of Allen County High School. Gary was a member of the Army National Guard and received technical training to become a maintenance worker. Gary worked at TRW in Lebanon, TN for over 35 years and was a farmer. Gary was an avid beagle trainer, breeder and trader. This was by far his favorite pastime. Gary enjoyed a good basketball team and loved to share his enthusiasm for basketball with his children and grandchildren. Kentucky Wildcats’ basketball was often a topic of conversation with Gary and blue was by far his favorite team, color and topic of conversation when discussing basketball. Gary loved his family and being with them for any occasion. He never wanted to travel but rather wanted everyone to be together under his roof. Gary loved God and being a faithful servant of his church. Gary was faithful to pray for his family, church and friends.
