Life story

Matthew Joseph Weill, 18, of Huntington, passed away at 2:07 am Friday, July 22, 2022 in Huntington, IN, in a single car accident ruled accidental.

Matthew was born on March 14, 2004, in Fort Wayne, IN, the son of Joseph Weill and Paula (Kline) Weill. He graduated from Huntington North High School with the Class of 2022 as salutatorian where he was a member of the Varsity Tennis team and the National Honor Society. He had recently been accepted to attend Trine University. Matthew worked as an Auctioneer Assistant for Ness Bros. He enjoyed gaming in his free time (as some knew him, BluePenguin771). He loved to travel with his family, his favorite place being Florida. Matthew was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington and planned on continuing to attend church in college.

Matthew is remembered as a great son, loving brother, exceptional friend, and an all-star tennis player. His catch-phrase was often “Let’s gooooo!”. He was shy but funny, studious but never failed to offer a helping hand. All-around great person to be around. He often enjoyed frequent milkshakes and coffee cake (cinnamon streusel cake) and he had a pet chinchilla named Nacho that he adored. Throughout his life, he was fascinated by trains and airplanes and had goals of becoming an air traffic controller.

Survivors include his Father, Joseph Thomas Weill of Huntington, IN; Mother, Paula Weill of Huntington, IN; Sister, Ashley (Joshua Wiles) Weill of Huntington, IN; Seven Aunts, Suzanne (Rick) Emley of Huntington, IN, Christine A. Love, your sister

The experience of being an older sister is something that I’ll never forget 💙 I remember when I first held you in my arms when I was 5 knowing that I had to protect you. We’d chase each other around the house, knocking over chairs and getting yelled at. When you were scared of thunder, I pulled you into my room and I distracted you with stuffed animals and funny memes. I remember when Avatar the Last Airbender first aired on Nickelodeon and we were so thrilled with the show that we would practice “blanket bending” after the show. I remember when you would go down on the street, and I would open my bedroom window and take off the screen, and you would try to see if you could throw a ball all the way up into my arms. Do you remember the “scooter rollercoasters” we drew in chalk on the street? How i taught you how to draw big lines so we could turn correctly? We played together ALL the time. And I was always there for you… and because of that I’ll always miss you. And I’ll never forget how I was your older sister. And even now that you’re gone I’m still here for you. And the best way I can help you now is to keep going. Rest in Power MJ 💙 3•14•2004 - 7-22-2022
