Jalen's 1st Heavenly Birthday - My Social Media Post
My firstborn. My baby. I miss you so much. I can’t believe we’re celebrating your 23rd birthday without you here. On August 27th, my world exploded when Jalen was in a fatal car accident. He was alone in the car but not alone in his final moments. I thank God for that. By the time I arrived to the scene, Jalen’s friends and his beloved were already there. And they’re still here. Still showing up for him. ♥️ My sister was on the phone with me as I drove to the scene thinking we’d just have to get a lawyer because he must have wrecked someone else’s car. (THIS scenario didn’t even cross my mind.) She stayed on the phone w me until she pulled up at the scene too and came by my side. We were out there for hours. HOURS…until my greatest fear was confirmed as my reality. Jalen was in the process of completing his certification to become an Automotive Technician at Lincoln Tech while working part time at Mavis. The program finished in November. Jalen’s class will have their ceremony in the Spring of 2024 where he will be graduating with honors. ☺️ In addition to graduating with honors, Jalen is being presented with the Debbie Ramentol award by Lincoln Tech in recognition of his accomplishments while at the school. His name will be placed on a plaque at the school for all current and future students to see. It took Jalen a minute to figure out what he wanted to do but once he did, it was a wrap. He was focused and had goals. To honor that, I’m creating a scholarship in his name at Lincoln Tech. All money that was given to my side of Jalen’s family during this time is being put towards the scholarship. Anyone interested in donating can send to me via Zelle or Venmo. The other big part of Jalen’s life was his car. His Infiniti G37 Coupe. He looooooooved that car. In June, someone totaled the car and he was heartbroken. Heartbroken. Thankfully, he didn’t listen to me as I harassed him to get it out of my driveway. The car is still here and has become a source of comfort for us. My goal is to have it repaired and back on the road as he would have wanted before the summer of 2024. Stay tuned. ♥️🤍 I miss Jalen. This is stupid.
