Wyatt Colt Rickard
"Gather up some pretty flowers, lay me down out in the field. Let me walk with Mom & Daddy so this beaten heart can heal. Oh, and honey, I'll be waitin' when you walk through God's front door. Don't you cry over me, darlin', I ain't hurtin' anymore." - Wyatt Colt Rickard, "Pretty Flowers" (copyright 2023)
Lovingly known to many as “Colt…like the horse,” Wyatt Colt Rickard was vibrant, full of life; kind, considerate to everyone he met. It was a rare occasion to see Colt without a smile on his face. He had a genuine love for people and wanted to help them succeed in anything they set their hearts to. When someone came to Colt with their troubles, he’d smile empathetically & say “Write a song about it.” He never met a stranger in his whole life. He lived, loved, laughed, shared his dreams, and spread his joyous, positive light everywhere he went.
Colt married the love of his life, Skylar Marie Rosebush, in March of 2023. He didn't know it, but he was soon to be the father of a baby boy - Wyatt Colt Rickard, II (due September 2024). He was in a band with his two best friends, Jerrett Davis & Dustin “Catfish” Fuqua, called The Stray Dogs. Music was Colt's passion, and playing music with his friends was his dream come true. He never went anywhere without a guitar. Ever. If he wasn't playing a guitar & singing, he was riding his horse Harry (frequently bareback) or driving down a backroad with the windows down and the stereo blaring his favorite tunes.
Colt's spirit lives on through his family & closest friends, as well as through The Colt Rickard Humanitarian Award and The Colt Rickard Talent Scholarship at his alma mater, Ohio County High School.
