If you knew Ben, you’d know he answered to many names and wore many different hats. He was the patriarch of our family, farmer, attorney, public servant, beer enthusiast, and hell raiser when the time called for it.
Dad was a private person about his personal affairs as well as his feelings; however, his dedication and to his wife, children, and legacy remains a constant reminder that sometimes a rolling stone can gather moss. Complex until the very end, we as his family have learned to focus our attention on the experiences with our dad and less on the contents of his choices. Remember, a person can be loved fully without fully being understood.
If you found yourself lucky enough to bear witness to his sparkle, we hope it rubbed off on you, too. Dad had charisma and a cool factor that could only be captured in a Clapton, Seger, or Stones catalogue. Some of his best traits are reflected in his children and grandchildren. We celebrate the fact that his legacy is alive and well.
