Life story

Nicole Joyce Rooks Vicha, affectionately known as Nicki, Trixter or Nicka passed away May 29th, 2024 at her home leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and her passion for nursing. Born on August 12, 1983, in Williston, ND, Nicki was the cherished daughter of Raymond and Tammy Rooks.

Nicki's educational journey began in Williston, where she graduated from Williston High School. She furthered her education at UND Williston, earning her LPN nursing degree, a testament to her lifelong dedication to caring for others.

On October 21, 2006, Nicki married Chris Ellis, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Amaya Rai, on July 9, 2010. Though their marriage ended after ten years, Amaya remained the light of their lives. Nicki later met Andrew Vicha, and they were married on March 13, 2021. Their union was blessed with the birth of Harper Jane on September 8, 2017, completing their happy family.

Nicki's career in healthcare began at an early age when she started working at Bethel Nursing Home. Her journey from a CNA and CMA to a dedicated LPN was fueled by her genuine passion for helping others. She took immense pride in her work as a nurse, a role she fulfilled with compassion and dedication until her passing.

Known for her love of shopping, Nicki had a knack for picking out the perfect house decor, often with her mom by her side. Her home was always filled with delightful scents from her extensive collection of candles and Scentsy products. Nicki also shared a love for ice fishing like her dad, creating cherished memories with Andrew and their children, even if things didn't go as planned like when Nicki's dad had to bring them out oil for the generator in the middle of the night.

Family was the center of Nicki's world. Whether bowling or spending time at the park, she adored her family and treasured every moment with her daughters, Amaya and Harper. Nicki was a wonderful mother who lit up every room with her infectious laugh and zest for life.

In her younger years, Nicki enjoyed cruising around with friends, singing along to every song on the radio. She had a special bond with her nieces and nephew, especially her first nephew Dawson, whom she loved to spoil when he was born.

Nicki always looked beautiful, with her makeup perfectly done and a collection of perfumes that reflected her vibrant personality. Her time on earth was tragically short, but the joy, love, and care she shared with those around her will forever be cherished. Nicki's kind heart and radiant spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Nicki is survived by her parents, Raymond and Tammy Rooks; precious daughters, Amaya Ellis and Harper Vicha; brother, Travis Rooks of Minneapolis; sister, Tamara Rooks (Chad Bauste) of Williston, nephew, Dawson Bauste, nieces, Tailyn and Kinzlee Bauste along with her aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Nicki in death were her grandmother, affectionately known as "Gran" Vonnie Joyce Carpentier and her grandpa Roger Berg
