Life story

Payton Andrew Roberts, age 28, passed away on August 18, 2024, near Paragonah, Utah. He was born January 9, 1996 in Cedar City, Utah to Jerold Dean Roberts and Anita Ruesch Zufelt. Growing up in Beaver, Utah, he attended Belknap Elementary School, and Beaver High School and obtained his GED.

Payton's passion for the trucking industry started to develop at the early age of 2 years old, when he began running with his stepdad to LA hauling pigs. He would rather be there than anywhere else, herding those pigs off the trailer with a hotshot in hand like he owned the place. Through the years, he worked other various jobs, but he always went back to his true love of getting in that semi, and he could run with the best of them. Driving was in his blood, and he took pride in being one of the best. Payton loved his family and was the favorite with all his nieces and nephews. They all called him "Uncle Pete" and loved his big bear hugs as did everyone. Growing up, Payton loved playing baseball and reflected on it often. He loved hunting with his dad, brothers and uncles, fishing, snowboarding - anything outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Payton had a heart of gold and loved and cared for people fiercely. His smile lit up a room and his personality was larger than life. He had a bond with each of his siblings and was there to care and protect them at different times in their lives, and they were there to do the same for him. To this day, his siblings would tease him and say he is a "momma's boy" and he would laugh and say, "I know it, and I'm not ashamed to admit it." He had much love for his mom. Payton had found the love of his life with Lynde and was looking forward to his future. He is loved by so many, and the memories we shared will be cherished forever, until we meet again.

Payton is survived by his mother and stepfather, Anita and Eric Zufelt, his father Jerold (Lisa) Roberts, two brothers, Weston (Taylor) Roberts and Braden Roberts, three sisters, Kourtney Roberts, Ashlyn (Joe) Gifford and Heather Zufelt, and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ned C and Peggy D. Ruesch, grandparents Cleo Alton and Afton Roberts, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
