Life story

On November 27, 2021, Mark Allen Jones, 68, of Sunbury, Ohio, left behind his sore and broken body to enter his Heavenly home.

He was born in Delaware, Ohio on August 9, 1953 to Stanley M. Jones and Janet A. McClain.

Preceded in death by his brother Kendall O. Jones and their parents.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Jana L. Hurd; beloved children, Jeremy Jones, Kristin (Jeremiah) Morgan; priceless grandchildren, Cody Flynt, Michael Flynt, Kaitlyn Taylor, Madison Izworski, Mason Jones, JJ Morgan, and Jenna Morgan; treasured great-grandchildren, Jace Johns and Jax Johns; brother, Jeffery (Debbra) Jones; sisters, Patrica (Tom) Faucett and Fawn (Chris) Riedl; sisters-in-law, Gina Jones, Lisa (George) Harmon, and Susan (Bill) Barr; brother-in-law, Chris Hurd.

Mark graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in Delaware in 1971. Pamela K. Looney survived the first tour of duty with Mark, and they were blessed with Jeremy. Shortly thereafter, she relinquished the duties to Jana Hurd, who accepted the challenge, and married Mark on December 30, 1976. They were then blessed with Kristin. Jana has loyally fulfilled her duties these past 44 years, even after several attempts to return him.

Mark worked for Advanced Auto Parts Distribution Center for 48 1/2 years, retiring on September 17, 2021. He worked alongside one of the most dedicated administrative assistants out there, Charlene Mobech, who has been his Guardian Angel on earth, while he fought end-stage renal disease for the past 6 years. He attended Delaware Bible Church for 20 years and he has been a member of the High Street Baptist Church for the past 25 years.

Mark lived for pulling pranks on people, just to see them smile and laugh. He cherished time spent with his family and friends. He loved to fish, golf, and watch his grandkids race dirt bikes, play baseball and softball.

Viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the High Street Baptist Church, 7399 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43235. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow the viewing at 1:00 pm.

The services will be livestreamed and can be viewed by logging in to https://www.highstreetbaptistchurch.com/livestream.aspx?subheadertext=Live+Stream

Graveside service, for family and close friends, will follow the service and be held at Green Mound Cemetery, Kilbourne, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for you to Pay IT Forward, as Mark did many times before. Do something special for someone you don’t know and watch them smile! #youvebeenmarkd
