Craig Daniel Baldus
A true mountain man at peace with a fishing pole in hand
Craig Daniel Baldus, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on September 15, 2021, at the age of 33. Born on September 8, 1988, in Bozeman, Montana, Craig brought light and joy to the lives of everyone who knew him.
Craig shared a beautiful life with his wife, Alyssa, and his adored daughter, Emerick, who was the center of his world. Known affectionately as "Daddy Mountain," Craig delighted in being a source of adventure and laughter for his little girl, who loved climbing up and down her favorite playmate.
Craig was a man of many passions and talents. He found joy in the outdoors, spending countless days fishing, hunting, and exploring nature. Spanish Lakes, where he now rests, was a place of peace and cherished memories. A skilled craftsman, Craig had a gift for working with his hands—whether building, fixing, or remodeling homes, especially his own log cabin. Craig taught himself to play the piano, filling his home with music and amazement at his self-learned artistry. He was also an athlete—a proud football player at Bozeman High School and the University of Montana.
Despite being a man of few words, Craig had a remarkable ability to make others laugh with his quick wit and unforgettable one-liners, lighting up every room he entered. His unique dance moves were a source of endless happiness for family and friends.
Craig’s love extended to his loyal dog, Lady Girl, who passed away just two weeks after him, ensuring they would be together forever. Above all, Craig’s heart belonged to his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a cherished son to Steve and Terry Baldus, a beloved brother to Leslie, Lindsey, and Chris, and a fun-loving uncle to Jackson, Grayson, Hayes, Reid and Max.
