

Carlton Emerson Sockwell
Newton, NH - Carlton Emerson Sockwell, 74, passed away suddenly on April 4, 2023 at the Exeter Hospital, Exeter, NH. He was born January 12, 1949, in Washington, D.C., son of the late James F. Sockwell and Katherine (Wiggins) Sockwell. Carlton grew up in Washington, D.C. and was one of two children. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1966, with honors and achieved the highest rank possible of Cadet Lt. Colonel in the school regiment. He later graduated from M.I.T. and went into teaching for 35 years. He was a widely beloved math teacher for 31 years at the Sanborn Regional Middle School in Kingston, NH. He retired in 2008 but remained heavily involved with the school doing a lot of photography and the technical side of theatre controlling the lights and sounds. He was an avid reader, film buff, ham radio operator, loved to sing with hobbies of photography, collecting comic books, and entire weekends listening to old vinyl records with friends. His favorite bands being The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He is survived by his brother, Kevin A. Sockwell of Silver Spring, MD.
