September 8, 1958 – December 28, 2024
George James Ramos Sr., 66, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 28, 2024, in New York City, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 8, 1958, in the Bronx, New York, George was the cherished son of Nilda Luz Cordova and Bernard Ramos. He grew up in a household filled with love and laughter alongside his five siblings: Bernard Jr., Rafael, José, Antonio, and his sister Linda.
Some of George’s fondest memories were growing up with his siblings and cousins in the South Bronx. Those formative years were filled with joy, camaraderie, and a deep sense of family, shaping the values he carried with him throughout his life.
In the summer of 1976, George met the love of his life, Eva Gonzalez. The couple shared 48 wonderful years together, marrying in October 1983 and building a beautiful life over 41 years of marriage. George and Eva were proud parents to seven children: George Jr., Maurice, Lilly, Destiny, Anthony, Angel, and Chyanne. George also cherished his role as a grandfather to six grandchildren: Arya, Nathaniel, Delilah, Braylin, Chloe, and Bryce, who were his pride and joy.
George dedicated his life to his work as a talented and respected plumber, serving Manhattan’s Lower East Side and the five boroughs of New York City. Renowned for his expertise, integrity, and work ethic, he left a lasting impression on his colleagues and clients alike.
For several years, George faced ongoing health challenges, but through it all, his devoted wife, Eva, stood steadfastly by his side. She worked tirelessly and relentlessly to ensure his every medical need was met, sparing no expense of her time, energy, or love. Her unwavering care was a testament to their extraordinary bond and the depth of her dedication.
Beyond his work and family, George lived a life enriched by his many passions. He was a skilled chess player, an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan, and an avid listener of vintage disco and freestyle music, affectionately calling it “the oldies.” His humor, charisma, and generosity touched everyone he met. George had a unique ability to uplift those around him, often sending inspirational messages or checking in on loved ones, a testament to his deeply caring nature.
George’s legacy is one of kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
