Philip Joseph Rosaci
Thank you for your service
Philip served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Philip Joseph was born on March 20, 1930 in Camden NJ to John and Angela Rosaci. He attended Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic School until 8th grade. While growing up in the depression his childhood was much like others. He and his sister Margie were inseparable. They were hard times but life was good growing up in an Italian family. While attending a family Christening, he met (Lee) Lena. When he turned 17, after the end of WW2, with his parent's consent, he joined the Navy. On that same day Lee graduated from high School and was starting her first job. During his time in the Navy they corresponded. After serving 3 years on the aircraft carrier USS Leyte, Phil and Lee dated for two years and on April 19, 1952 they were married. Phil worked for JB Stetson hats in Philadelphia and during that time he attended barber school in the evening. At that time they lived in Collingswood NJ. Years later they moved to Edgewater Park NJ and Phil opened his own barber shop on the side of the house. There they continued to raise their children. In 1972 they moved to Palm Bay Florida. While having to attain Florida barbers license, he traveled for 6 weeks to Orlando for school. During that time he worked at Patrick AFB as a barber and worked at St Joseph's church cemetery. After getting licensed in Florida he opened Phil's Barber Shop in Palm Bay. Phil loved playing cards, telling jokes reminiscing old times and he had a beautiful voice. Phil and Lee have a wonderful family of 6 children, John, Anthony, Phyllis. Diane, Marianne, and Linda (deceased), 19, grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and have been happily married for almost 71 years.. Phil made friends quickly and knew no stranger. He mentored many and they ended up becoming family. He is a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus 7408 which he started with the help of a few other members many years ago. He left a legacy and was loved by all. He will be missed but will be forever in our hearts.
