Life story
Christopher “Chris” Meadows was a man who defined dedication, passion, and love in every aspect of his life. Born with an innate love for life’s simple pleasures, Chris became a beloved figure to everyone who knew him. His family, especially his daughters Dene and Dara, and his granddaughters Kate and Brittany, along with his wife Joy were his greatest treasures, and he made sure they knew it every day. His devotion to them was unwavering, and they were truly his pride and joy.
For over 50 years, Chris shared a life of love, laughter, and adventure with his wife. Their partnership was a testament to enduring commitment, as they built a family and a life full of memories together. Chris' heart belonged to them, and he was always there to support, guide, and encourage his loved ones. Whether it was a quiet moment at home or a family celebration, Chris’ presence was the constant source of joy and warmth.
In addition to his cherished family, Chris had a profound love for the culinary arts. He was a master griller, known for his outstanding skills on the barbecue. Together with his team, he won many cooking competitions, earning respect and admiration from all who tasted his work. His culinary talents were as warm as his personality—each meal a reflection of the care and dedication he put into every endeavor.
Chris was also a devoted NASCAR fan, and his passion for racing ran deep. He had an extensive NASCAR collection, one that reflected his enthusiasm for the sport. His love for racing wasn’t just a hobby; it was a part of who he was, and many enjoyed hearing him recount his favorite races and drivers. That same competitive spirit that drove him to success on the grill also fueled his love for golf. Chris was a skilled golfer and earned numerous tournament victories throughout his life. Whether on the green or by the grill, he demonstrated excellence in everything he did.
Among his many gifts and talents, Chris also owned his own business for many, many years. CD Meadows Contruction. With his hands, he built top tier quality work that is still standing in many lives today.
While his accomplishments were many, it was Chris' family who truly defined him. His legacy lives on in his daughters who carry his spirit and kindness, and in his granddaughters who were the light of his life. Chris was also unwavering in his love and commitment to his 5 younger sisters, his younger brother, two sons in law, two grandsons in law, grandson Brent, and multiple great grandchildren. Chris may no longer be with us, but his love and his memory will be honored forever by those he left behind. He will be deeply missed, but his impact on this world will never fade. In Chris’ last days, he firmed the foundation for his relationship with Christ. Although he lived a life walking in a worthy manner, he received the ultimate gift of Salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and gave his family the greatest comfort of the knowledge that he is at the feet of the Heavenly Father.
The Meadows family continues to celebrate the life of Chris, keeping his memory alive with every barbecue, every family gathering, every memory reminisced, and every story shared. Chris may have left this world, but he will never be forgotten—his love, his spirit, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know him.
My papaw was one of the most important figures in my life since I was a little girl. Some of my earliest memories as a child are licking salt and lemons out of his hand (thanks papaw for the salt and lemon addiction by the way), fishing with him in his pond, and sitting in his lap where I felt safe and loved. He was a figure in my life that I always admired, always wanted to be around, and always felt loved and cherished by. He always knew how to make his granddaughters feel special.
He inspired me by his hardworking attitude and his dedication to always make everyone around him feel loved and also constantly picked on. Picking on others was Papaw’s love language, there is no doubt about that. You knew he loved you when he picked at you and joked with you.
He always wanted his granddaughters to stay safe. I remember when he first surprised Brittany and I with a golf cart that we could drive around the land at their house. He bought us both hot pink helmets and would NOT let us step foot near that golf cart unless we had them on.
Thanks to papaw, I have a love for go cart racing at the beach, and I attribute him to my competitive spirit. Because of him, I always want to make others feel loved and cherished. Thanks to him, I have thousands of laughs and fond memories.
