“"Beat your ass and hide the Bible if God's watching"
Life story
Jarod Atterberry, 31, of Fulton, passed away surrounded by love on February 25, 2026, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Jarod was born on June 30, 1994, in Columbia, Missouri, to Aaron Atterberry and Angela Browning.
From a young age, Jarod had a deep love for sports that followed him throughout his life. He was a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Chargers and rarely missed a game.
He enjoyed playing basketball, spending hours fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and collecting sports cards. Above all else, Jarod treasured time with his family. His greatest joy was being a father to his daughter, Addy. Making memories with her, sharing laughter, and simply being together were the moments he valued most. She was the light of his life.
Jarod will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to his team, his competitive spirit, and the genuine joy he found in life’s simple pleasures.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Paul Atterberry; maternal grandparents, Eddie “Pete” and Linda Browning, paternal great grandmother, Geraldine Williams, maternal great grandparents, Charles and Betty Browning, and maternal great great grandparents, Mary Johnson and Hadley Fox.
Jarod and I may not have been super super close but we still spoke and kept it real. He was always knew how to make you laugh or knew what to say when you were in a bad mood or upset. Anytime I seen him he had a smile on his face. I gonna miss the goofiness I saw and experienced when I did. I’m gonna miss the realness he had because you don’t find that anymore. I love you fam. Rest easy cuzzo. Til we meet again
My boy Jarod — or Red, like I always called him.
Our moms met when we were kids in elementary school, and that’s how Red and I met. Back then he was a wild child. He wanted to wrestle and run around doing crazy stuff with the kids in his neighborhood, and I mostly just wanted to play with toys and video games.
We’d roughhouse, get mad at each other, and sometimes end up sitting in different rooms for a while. But eventually we balanced each other out. Red would come up with some crazy idea and I’d go along with it. When it got a little too crazy, I’d try to talk him into a slightly less crazy version. We still got in trouble sometimes… just maybe a little less trouble.
By middle school we had really become a team. I still laugh thinking about the candy operation we ran in 7th grade. A few of us had lockers all over the school and we’d sell candy between classes. At the end of the day we’d pool the money and split it. And if anyone’s wondering… we all know who the mastermind behind that operation was.
Red’s been part of my life since I was about eight years old. What started with our moms being friends turned into our families growing up together, holidays, vacations, and a lot of memories.
I’m grateful for all those years and all those memories. My heart is especially with Addie — “Little Red.” Your dad meant a lot to me, and I’ll always carry those memories of him.
I met Jarod at citgo gas station when he worked there. I think I sent him a friend request. I ended up selling him my Xbox and a few months later we started talking. When we went on our first date I spent forever trying to pick out an outfit only to end up in a white tee. When I got in his car, he was also wearing a white tee. I thought it was so funny. We went to Columbia to go the card shop and we got some cards. He got pokemon and I got Lilo and stitch. He sang "ain't no mountain high enough" to me and was so goofy! I knew he would be the one for me but I was still so shy. He just had a light about him and I knew he was who I wanted to spend my life with.
