Life story

Karl Blain Poulson, of Murray Utah, passed away on December 26th, 2023 at his home. Karl was born November 10th, 1966, to Beth and Gerry Poulson of Granger, Utah. Karl was well liked and had many friends while attending Kennedy Jr. and Granger High School.

Following his high school graduation Karl served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania mission.

Upon returning from his mission, Karl met and married the love of his life, Suzanne Marden. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 11th, 1989. Karl and Suzanne were best friends.

Karl and Suzanne chose Murray for their home where they raised three wonderful children, Marie, John, and Ryan. Karl loved his family and was very involved with his children and their activities. Karl coached his sons little league baseball teams, led their scout troops and supported his daughter in her love of singing and performing. Karl especially loved being a grandpa to his best buddies Jackson, Ethan, Blakely, Luna and James.

Karl excelled in his professional life working for Nordstrom, Marchon Eyewear, and most recently Richemont Luxury brands as the North American Training Director for Panerai watches. Karl forged many strong relationships through his global work travels and is highly regarded as an expert in his profession. Karl’s magnetic personality became his trademark and his work associates looked forward to spending time with him.

Karl grew up fishing and hunting and inherited a strong love of the outdoors from his father, grandfather and countless uncles and cousins. He passed that love on to his children. The Manti- La Sal and Fishlake National Forests were among his favorite places on earth. Karl enjoyed many sports, among which golf and tennis were his favorites.

Karl and Suzanne took pride in establishing and maintaining a beautiful home and yard where they entertained friends and family throughout the year. Their annual Fourth of July BBQ was most memorable for those who attended.

Karl was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various capacities including, Scoutmaster, Sunday School teacher, Elders Quorum President, High Council and Bishop. His example of Christ like love and service touched the lives of community, stake and ward members.

One of Karl’s greatest gifts was his ability to make those around him feel special, included and loved. Karl’s family would like to express their love and gratitude to everyone who made Karl’s life fulfilling and meaningful. Karl will be missed by all who knew him.

Karl is survived by his lovely wife of almost 35 years, Suzanne, as well as his children, Marie (Greg), John (Austen) and Ryan (Ashton), five grandchildren, parents Beth and Gerry Poulson, and siblings Haidee, Chenlee, Sara.

final words

My dear boy, if these words find you when I am no longer beside you, I want you to carry one truth in your heart: you were the greatest joy of my life. From the moment I first held you, I knew my purpose was to guide you, protect you, and love you with everything I had. Life will not always be easy, but remember the lessons we shared — patience by the water when we fished, courage in trying again when the knot wouldn’t tie, and laughter when we played. These small moments are the threads that weave a full and meaningful life. Live with kindness, keep your heart open, and know that every step you take forward carries my love with it. Even when you cannot see me, I am with you still — in your strength, in your smile, and in the way you will one day hold your own child’s hand

Saw a Bald Eagle today pops!

So I was at the river fly fishing at our spot today. And I saw your favorite animal of all time, a bald eagle. I appreciate you hanging with me. Love you, John

My Best Friend

Hi Dad, I was thinking about you a lot today. I miss you and all the good times we had together. I know you’re with us still and I feel your presence always. I miss being able to call you and hear your calm and confident voice whenever I would have a problem in life. I cherished all the time you spent with me as a kid and making me feel noticed. You taught me all i know and i strive to be like you in many ways. I know we will once again be together one day as a family and that we will look back on life with sweet memories but an excitement for the remainder of eternity and what is to come. I love you and you will live with me always here on earth.
