You don’t come across genuine souls often but Trey was one you were lucky to have in your life. We all have so many great memories to look back on with happiness and cherish forever.
Life story

Garfield “Trey” Barnett III (21) was born on June 28th 2004 in Lansing Michigan, he unexpectedly passed away on April 4th 2026. Trey was born to Garfield Barnett Jr. and Connie Barnett, he graduated from Everett High School in 2022 then began working and becoming the wonderful young man we all knew and loved.

Garfield was also known as Trey, Rabbit or Booby. Booby was a nickname given to him by his dad when he was a baby that stuck with him his whole life. Trey was absolutely one of a kind. He was genuine, respectful, strong minded, and you could talk to him about anything regardless of what you were going through. Trey wore this protectiveness like armor; when it came to Tessa -his mirror and his “twin”- their bond was unmatched. He was a great person to be around, it was always nothing but laughter, jokes, and enjoying each other's company. His laugh is one to remember. Trey was a great friend to everyone. Anything to do with family or friends, Trey always showed up. He was a die-hard Michigan fan through and through. Trey was unquestionably the life of the party. Always dancing and cracking jokes with friends and family, always breaking out that one signature dance move. Remembering the family cookouts where you could catch Booby on the grill with his dad; his love for 90s R&B that he got from his mom; and his love for cars and music was unparalleled. You always knew it was Trey when you seen “Big Red” his jeep that he had a love/hate relationship with. It was his prized possession, you could hear him beating down the block from a mile away.

Trey is survived by his parents Garfield and Connie Barnett, his three brothers Darquis Barnett, Jau’Don Barnett, Darshawn Barnett, four sisters Kalesha Barnett, Mariah Flores, Zalinda Miller and Quintessa Barnett. Grandparents Rose Cyr and Louie (Laura) Doty And many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his grandparents Michael Cyr, Ruby and Garfield Barnett.
