Rose Rosalie Zavala
“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” - Mahatma Gandhi
Our beloved mom Rose was born Rose Rosalie Arias on September 4 1934, she was 9 of 14 children to Mariano and Caritina Arias. Rose grew up in Lynwood where her father farmed. She was 4 when her mother passed away, her older sisters stepped in to help raise Rose and younger siblings. Here is where she learned to cook and make tortillas for her family on a daily basis, She became a great cook and passed down her good cooking skills to her children. Our mom spent her young years with her sister Marcelina, these two were inseparable. Their sister bond was very strong and has been maintained throughout their lives. They even played sports and joined clubs in high school, and both graduated in the same year. Our mom married in 1956 to Ray A Zavala, having five children together. Unfortunately, they divorce in 1972 and Rose would go on to raise her children on her own. She worked Blake Rivet company in South Gate for about 20 years. She retired early to assist in watching her grandchildren. While raising her grandchildren our mom moved in with our younger sister spending her time with her family and friends. Our mom loved playing cards, games and just being around her family. She loved Christmas, watching soap operas, Hallmark movies but her real passion was her baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers. She was True Blue fan.
Our mom loved her family and friends. She always enjoyed seeing them whenever she did. Our mom was a kind loving person who gave everything to her family. She had 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The Zavala, O’Banion and Martinez families thank you for visiting this site and encourage you to leave a tribute as well as view Rose’s life through pictures.
Our mom is at home with her family that has passed. One day we all will see her again.
Thank you.
