Damian Anthony Dussor
"I love you big most."
Damian Anthony Dussor, of Slidell, Louisiana, went to join our Lord on September 19, 2023. He was surrounded by his parents and family members who held his hands until the very last moment. Born on February 12, 1995, in Slidell to his beloved parents, Steven Dussor and Michelle Menesses Fanz, Damian loved to laugh and was always up for a good time and a practical joke. Damian never met a stranger, and he made a friend of everyone he ever met. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, then go into his dad’s closet and give them some of his clothes. It never mattered if he had a little or a lot - he was always willing to share whatever his dad had.
Damian was a true outdoorsman and loved fishing, hiking, snorkeling, and anything that can be done outside. He found a love for snorkeling in Jamaica during a family trip. He loved Jamaica so much he almost missed getting on the ship to go home. This wasn’t a problem, as he made friends with the locals there, too. He was notoriously lucky with fishing and could stick a bait-less hook in any body of water and come up with a fish. He once put a small net in Lake Pontchartrain over the side and came up with three crabs and an oyster fish. He was always up for a tubing trip up any river and truly enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved. If you knew him, you were the lucky one because his personality was brighter than the sun. It didn’t matter if it was dressing up in costumes of his own creation or going out with his friends. He had so many things he loved to do, most of which we just won’t speak of. In fact, you had to be either deaf, dumb, or blind to get in a car with Damian behind the wheel. Just ask the residents of Eden Isles. I’m sure they still recall when the entire subdivision went without phone, internet, and cable for a month. (He still claimed it wasn’t him).
Damian was a lover of the Lord and though he worshiped as a Catholic, he never passed a baptismal ceremony where he wasn’t the first one in the water. He was baptized in every religion he came across and never discriminated when it came to loving the Lord in any and every faith. Damian wanted to make sure he covered all his bases and dirtied all the waters.
Damian had very eclectic taste when it came to music, with some of his favorites being Sublime, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Jelly Roll. When he was about five years old, he suddenly screamed in the car, “Turn it up, this is my favorite song!” We all turned to look at him in disbelief. However, he proved us wrong when he began to belt out Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” Since that day over 20 years ago, we think of Damian whenever we hear that song. Our world will be a lot less bright without the one who brought the sunshine and laughter.
Damian is preceded in death by his grandma, Lacey Slater Dussor, who loved him beyond reason; his paw-paw, Erwin “Pinkey” Menesses; his granny, Hazel “Emily” Hamann Wise, who without a doubt was waiting at Heaven’s gates with her arms out to hug him and welcome him in; his paw-paw, Milton Bradley Wise; his uncle, John “Uncle Johnny” Dussor; his dogs, Marley, Patton, and Gumbeaux; and his cat, Roux.
He is survived by, and will be missed and loved forever, by his parents, his Dad~Steven Anthony Dussor; his mama, Michelle Menesses Fanz; and stepfather, Charles “Chuck” Fanz; his brother, Ryan Adam Dussor, who will forever miss their brotherly bond; his paw-paw, Henry Dussor; his cousins, Rebecca Clayton, Eric Dussor and Alan Dussor; and his aunts and uncles, Anita Menesses Wyrick (Uncle Tony, and cousin Adrew), Erwin “Bubba” Menesses (Aunt Cherie and cousin Trey), Kevin Menesses (Bonnie, Cousins~Blake, Bladen, and Mallory), Heidi Menesses Smallwood (Ronnie), Jacqueline Menesses Davis, Uncle “God Father” Timothy Davis (Cousins~Hannah and Nicholas), Jeffery Wise (Aunt Dana, Cousins~Lily, Casey, Ginger, Tabitha, and Victor), Jack Wise (Mel).
Special thanks to Kirsten Wood Termine (Travis), his cousin who spent tireless hours at the hospital with the family, giving love and support, and bringing food and morning coffees; and loving stepsiblings, Ashley McQueen Brown (Lance and nephew Leland), Haylie Fanz (Dylan, neices~Thea, and Collins), and step-BrotherPeyton Fanz. Through life he remained especially close to his cousins, Kevin Wise and Alexis Wise. Too many cousins and other family members to list but Damian loved each greatly.
More than anything his Mama will forever love him BIG MOST!!!
